Anand aka Hinjewboy was born in New York City to his Hindu father and
Jewish mother. His childhood was spent divided between Manhattan, the
Colorado Rockies, and Florida's Tampa Bay.
After high school (The Bayard Rustin High School For The Humanities in Manhattan), he attended Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Communications for two and a half years to pursue degrees in sociology and video production before taking a leave of absence to reconsider his educational pursuits.
During his time away from Syracuse, he discovered a love for science after he found his exploration into sociology a disappointment. He went to SUNY-Stony Brook on Long Island, NY where he spent the next three years earning a bachelors degree in chemistry.
Anand then enrolled in the chemistry department's Ph.D. program at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, California with the hopes of one day teaching and researching in the general fields of chemistry and biochemistry. After three years in the program, however, he left realizing his appreciation for science wasn't a passion for science. He took a masters and moved twenty miles into Los Angeles where he works to bring laughter and joy to audiences by provoking thought about issues affecting their lives.
Anand is an avid poker player and plays in a weekly poker game with buddies from The Egyptian Kings Poker Club.
Anand is an advanced level student at The Groundlings, a well-known improv School in West Hollywood.
"The Dump", a digital short by Anand's sketch comedy group 'ObnOxiOus' was recently featured by MySpace Comedy on their homepage, receiving rave reviews.
Anand began doing Stand Up Comedy in March, 2007. After realizing few people would remember or correctly pronounce his name, started using the stage name Hinjewboy, .
