Redford was cast as 14 year-old Bethany Platt in Coronation Street (1960) in 2014, having claimed she was 19. After much press speculation about why a much older looking actress had been cast, producers did further digging and discovered Redford was actually 25 - 11 years older than the character of Bethany, and just six years younger than Tina O'Brien, who plays Bethany's mother Sarah. Redford was sacked from the role before filming began and replaced by 18 year-old Lucy Fallon.
