Hubert Védrine was born on 31 July 1947 in Saint-Sylvain-de-Bellegarde, Creuse, France. He is a writer, known for Un monde dans tous ses états (2012), Le journal de 20 heures (1956) and Infrarouge (2006). He is married to Michèle Froment.

French Minister of Foreign Affairs (4 June 1997 to 6 May 2002).

Son of Jean Védrine (1914-2010) public servant and close friend and collaborator of François Mitterrand from 1942.
