Jonathan Hopkins (also known as John or Hoppy) is an award-winning writer/director with a passion for storytelling.
Raised in the Cotswolds by American parents, Jonathan grew up on a diet of classical literature, 2000AD and the wondrous spirit of 80s cinema. His short films and commercials have garnered numerous awards and nominations and notched up millions of hits online. In 2006 his first short Goodbye Mr. Snuggles was selected for the Sundance Film Festival and the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase at the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival. Jonathan has since directed over 100 commercials. His spot for Yeo Valley is often voted into the top ads of the 21st century and in 2015 he directed the party political broadcast for the Green Party in the UK general election.
Jonathan's debut feature film Slumber, a horror co-penned with Bloodlist writer Richard Hobley, and produced by Goldcrest Films, was released in 2017. His latest film Unify, a sci-fi action thriller, is set to be produced through Ostara pictures and Boxfly media.
In 2020, John founded Celestial, a pioneering drone art company that has produced acclaimed international drone shows. Celestial's goal is to supersede fireworks.
His storytelling in the mediums of film and drone art feed into Jonathan's study of consciousness with an intention to deepen mankind's connection to nature.
John lives in his ancestral home of Frome with his beloved wife, three children and dog.
