WWE sacrificed 28 wrestlers and backstage talent on Wednesday all in the name of WWE’s stock.
That sounds crude, but it’s true.
WWE announced today that 28 individuals were fired. More full-time employees would be furloughed or laid off and construction on the company’s new headquarters has halted as well. The savings for WWE is about $4 million per month, they bragged in a press release.
That $4 million per month sounds like a lot … until you realize WWE has $90 million in cash on hand and has upwards of $500 million available if they maximized everything and extended all of their credit lines.
The cuts were, of course, blamed on coronavirus.
But make no mistake about it, these cuts were made for one reason and one reason only … to protect WWE’s stock price. The moves were made to protect profit margin. It affected a lot of lower-card talents, some of whom...

Nxt: Takeover: Chicago will air this Saturday on the WWE Network for the first time outside of their quarterly, big four schedule. (The big four I reference of course being the WWE events Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, and Survivor Series.) Taking place at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, the show features the best and brightest of the WWE Nxt brand. Since the Nxt brand has consistently put on some of the best shows of the year for the WWE, I thought we'd take a few minutes to go through the card for the show while I offer some predictions on who may win.
Roderick Strong vs Eric Young
Roderick Strong has been on one heck of a roll as of late. He's still pretty young despite his years in Ring of Honor and other organizations. The WWE has a blue chipper on their hands with Roddy and I think...

In yet another sign that Tna is in its death throes, two of the company’s most loyal performers have asked for and been granted their release.
Both Eric Young and Bobby Roode fulfilled their final commitments at this past weekend’s tapings and have officially departed the organization they had been with for more than a decade.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise because we all assumed both men would remain with the promotion until it ceased to exist, but this could be a case of abandoning ship before it’s fully submerged.
Heading into the TV taping both men were champions, with Roode holding the tag team titles alongside his Beer Money partner James Storm while Young was the King of the Mountain. Young dropped the title to Bram in a falls count anywhere match while Beer Money relinquished their championship to The...

It’s the final Tna Impact Wrestling before one of the company’s flagship pay-per-view events, Bound for Glory, and so tension was majorly ramping up, especially for the likes of EC3 and Eric Young, both of whom had their matches for the card finalised.
That said, though this week featured a few heart-stopping moments of action, it was mostly memorable as a theater of the bizarre, from the odd commentary to some outrageously poor booking and creative choices that simply didn’t make much sense kayfabe-wise.
And yes, Eric Young was up to his usual barmy antics, which resulted in one of the show’s more entertaining segments, in fact. However, Tna’s low-effort tapings sadly aren’t indicating a company that’s going to go down swinging, though hopefully Bound for Glory will be a reminder of just how electric the company can be live.

After watching Impact wrestling last night I was embarrassed. I was embarrassed as a wrestling fan, by the product and by admitting I even watched it. Tna is crumbling before our eyes.
The best possible thing Dixie could do is Not resign Hulk Hogan but unfortunately she doesn’t know how to make good business decisions, so she will.
Her “heel” turn is painful to watch. Dixie may own Tna but she sure as hell shouldn’t be the face of it. Not only was her promo horrible, it wasn’t even believable.
Thank God after that we were treated to a great match by Austin Aries and Jeff Hardy. It’s matches like theirs that keep me watching. But…
Then we’re forced to sit through Bromance in the ring fighting with Odb and Eric Young? Why?! How is that segment even making it to TV?!
Aces and Eights is a laughing stock.

Zap2it: What would you say to a fan who decides to try some of the more extreme fishing stunts you do on "Off the Hook: Extreme Catches"?
Eric Young: The guys I am with are at the highest level there is, and a lot of preparation goes into making sure that I am comfortable with it. With a lot of these styles of fishing, you definitely do not want to go, "Hey, I'm going to buy a wet suit and jump in the ocean, no problem." I am getting the best of the best training before I do this, and it's still pretty crazy.
Zap2it: Have you always been an outdoorsy kind of guy?
Eric Young: Yeah, camping and fishing and just being outside have always been a passion of mine. I'm not that good at it, and I don't pretend to be, but it just fascinates me.

Like many guys who grew up in rural American settings, professional wrestler "Showtime" Eric Young spent a fair amount of his formative years fishing with his father and friends from docks and riverbanks.
These days, however, Young is more likely to be pushing his luck fishing for sharks from a wobbly paddleboard or chasing sailfish from a small, wave-tossed handmade raft off the coast of Miami in "Off the Hook: Extreme Catches," a hugely entertaining new series premiering Monday, July 30, on Discovery Channel before moving to Animal Planet a couple of weeks later.
"This show is completely the other end of the [fishing] spectrum, which is awesome," Young tells Zap2it. "A big thing for me with this show is just meeting these people. They're fascinating to me. A lot of them are pioneers, in a way. What they've come up with are the grass roots of a style of fishing...

No it isn’t a misprint or a communication error. It’s not a hoax or a prank. Blink once, blink twice, rub your eyes if you have to (gently of course). Now look at the headline again. Are you smiling? You should be.
At Destination X the 34 year old realised a life long dream and shook the professional wrestling world to its very core. Not just because he beat Bobby Roode, the man with the longest Tna World Championship reign in history, but because of who he is and how he did it. It has long been considered amongst Wrestling fans that if you want to watch the modern day product you are going to have to put up with a lot of pain with not much joy in return. Gone are the days, it seems, that wrestling takes priority over selling merchandise to children or telling people who or what is trending worldwide.

Yes folks, it’s Tna PPV time again and we’ve had a look into our crystal ball to see who will be upsetting who and who has all the gold when the dust has settled.
Over the last few months we’ve seen the slow build of Robert Roode as a legit heel World Champion despite knowing in our heart of hearts that he’s only carrying the title while Tna build James Storm into the new Super-Face of the company. In the meantime he’s been feuding with on-air authority figure Sting, which leads us into yet another PPV main event starring a wrestler way beyond his prime despite a full roster of young talent that could put on a show stealing performance.
Robbie E and his TV Title Open Challenge.
I can’t believe Robbie E still has a job, or at least this horrendous gimmick. He...

Bobby Roode retained successfully at Against All Odds so he rightfully was the main focus of the show this week. Although you have to question why he made Christy introduce him twice, he must be a glutton for punishment. He also rightfully pointed out that it’s Sting’s own fault he is still champion. The “Insane Icon” didn’t like this and so hit the ring and put him in a No Dq, No Time Limit match against Jeff Hardy in the first match. Is anyone still drug testing Jeff? Only someone on drugs could devise such terrible entrances and face paint every week. Either way, they had a decent opening match which even had a few spots around the stage and ramp. Hardy was all over Roode for the majority, and only lost when Kurt Angle made a return and threw Jeff into the steps.

Tna Impact Wrestling! 22nd January 2012
Last week, Bully Ray helped Bobby Roode retain again against Jeffrey Hardy. And this week, out first is James Storm with his Mickie James like entrance music/video. He’s number one contender now. He tells Kurt hes the greatest wrestler but he was better then threatens to whoop Roode’s ass. “Sorry about your damn…” He’s cut off by Jeff Hardy’s music and the Rainbow Emo himself comes to the ring. “I got screwed at the PPV, I got screwed last week.” He tells Storm nobody gets a shot until he gets his final encounter. Storm says a few months ago He got screwed. “You’d think with all this screwing he’d have a lot of child support to pay.” Before we can digest that thought, Roode comes out with a mic. He’s flattered at the attention but reminds Storm...

Bobby Roode is still your Tna Champion after Genesis, and he’s gracing us with his presence. As the fans chant “Hardy,” Roode tells us he’s the most dominant champion in the history of Impact! Roode says he’s not going to embarrass him anymore, and brings him out to “humbly accept his defeat” and shake Roode’s hand. Instead it’s Sting’s music that plays and out comes the Icon. Sting and Roode share some weird caveman insults which somehow garners a “Spank his butt” chant from the crowd. Sting calls Roode out for getting intentionally disqualified and tells him tonight he defends again against Jeff Hardy! Sting is out, and Roode throws a tantrum.
Earlier today, Matt Morgan met Crimson coming out of Direct Insurance and they gave him a Great Deal. Morgan says they’ve been amazing with his family for years.

This weeks Impact begins with Sting coming to the ring. I love how no matter what other clothes hes wearing he never forgets his skeleton gloves. I once knew a Goth like that. Sting calls out another man reliving his teenage years, Jeff Hardy. If he ever left them that is. Sting tells him hes been impressed lately. Jeff Hardys face is half painted, half not. Sting says he once took his second chance and made something of it, just like Jeff Hardy is now. “There’s creatures out there that adore you and look up to you.” Some of his fans are definitely creatures. Hardy chant amongst them now as Sting gives Jeff his full 100% Endorsement. This brings out Roode, Angle and Bully Ray. Back from a short hiatus with this Impact recap and Tonight Sting has given us a World Heavyweight Title Rematch to open the show!
Tna World Title Match
Five Minute Overtime Rematch from Final Resolution
Aj Styles vs. Robert Roode (Champion)
Is it just me or does everyone’s entrance in Tna start with that tilted camera long shot? Here’s our five minutes on the clock and Roode immediately tries to run down the clock by getting out of there. Styles follows him out and rolls him back in, covering him with a cross body. Hard whips and a back body drop. This match is One fall, not Iron Man like at the PPV. They exchange side headlocks and kick outs. Aj Rolls him up for two. We’re at three minutes left and Roode wants a time out. Ref for some reason holds Aj back,...

Hot off the heels of disappointing/predictable/weird Bound For Glory, we are back in Florida for Impact Wrestling this week. First we get a video to remind us that Hogan turned face and joined Sting, then in the arena Sting himself is on the way to the ring. Sting is happy that he got the company back to Dixie, and that he got the real Hulk Hogan back. The explanation for turning face should be a good one, right? Sting brings out Hogan and he’s all smiles and in classic red and yellow. Hogan says for the last year he’s been wrong. That was a very sudden realisation. Hogan explains that he had a few bad years, lost a bit of confidence and became a follower of Bischoff rather than a leader. There’s only one person to thank he says. And its Sting.
