Ben Marchant
- Actor
Ben Marchant was born in Perth, Western Australia.
Being the eldest of 3 children, Ben was the most creative at an early age when it came to drama and music. This carried on to his teenage years where after completing high school, he went briefly into the media industry.
Things however were cut short temporarily when it came to a shock to both Ben, his family, friends and work colleagues that he was diagnosed with Epilepsy aged 21. This also meant a slight change in his work life.
Ben entered into the Finance and Insurance industries.
Come 2002, to reduce seizure activity, Ben underwent brain surgery, where he had the courage to be interviewed both prior and during the 9 hour procedure, which was televised on Australia's Today Tonight on the 7 Network.
After recovering, he was in a situation where he had to learn how to read and write again. This was what gave him confidence in what you can achieve, especially after he was able to read the autobiography 'A Fortunate Life' by Sir A.B Facey. A story that was made for TV.
This was a struggle at first where Ben reflected back to when a child starts primary school and starts learning how to develop.
Ben has succeeded and since has been on the UK's Casualty (2004), the movie Taj (2009) whilst in between has done stand-up comedy, commercials, has commenced writing and is to now look at focusing on documentaries.
