Plot: With Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai — the world championships of karate.

Each new season of Cobra Kai has built on a blend of nostalgia for The Karate Kid saga along with a new generation of wholesome teen melodrama. Plot: Obliterated is a high octane action-comedy from the creators of Cobra Kai that tells the story of an elite special forces team who thwarts a deadly threat to Las Vegas. After their celebratory party, filled with booze, drugs and sex, the team discovers that the bomb they deactivated was a fake. The now intoxicated team has to fight through their impairments, overcome their personal issues, find the real bomb, and save the world.
Review: When an elite team of special forces, commandos, and spies team up to save the day, that is usually the end of the story. The credits typically roll on a happy ending once the bad guy is killed and the world is saved. The new series Obliterated looks at what happens when that celebration is premature in a blend of the team action of The A-Team with the drug and alcohol-fueled excess of The Hangover.

Peter Meyer, who represented the likes of Tom Hanks, James Caan and William Shatner as a talent agent at William Morris before spending the past three decades leading his own management firm, has died. He was 68.

Mr. Miyagi is one of cinema's most memorable mentors. Played by the inimitable Pat Morita, Miyagi is known for his nontraditional approach to teaching karate and for doling out wise life advice when it's needed most. He is the heart of "The Karate Kid" franchise, and Morita, who passed away in 2005, has inspired many of us with his portrayal of everyone's favorite sensei. With the announcement of the spin-off show "Cobra Kai," fans of the original series wondered how Miyagi's influence (and absence) would tie into the new story. Thankfully, the show's creators share a deep love and respect for this crucial character, and they have gone to great lengths to insure that Miyagi's influence and spirit is still felt throughout all five seasons of "Cobra Kai."

“For those of us in development and production, we have to take advantage of these incredible times,” said Spt exec Ana Bond who cited the production boom high demand for – and acceptance of – premium Latino content.

Few can argue that Latinos haven’t been greatly underrepresented in Hollywood, particularly at the creative level. A key reason, many say, is an insufficient comprehension of what the terms “Latino” and the gender-neutral “Latinx” mean.
When Hollywood thinks about Latino or Latinx talent, its instinct is to turn to the Oscar-winning Mexican directors Alfonso Cuarón, Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Guillermo del Toro or to acclaimed Spaniards such as Pedro Almodóvar as mistaken examples of inclusion. Most would have a difficult time naming an American Latino filmmaker besides Robert Rodriguez or creatives other than Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria.
Such a superficial grasp of the distinct groups of people included in the ethnic terms “Latino” and “Latinx” has led to the perpetual omission of U.S.-born-and-raised Latinos in front of and behind the camera. Their experiences are either entirely ignored or lumped together with those of their Latin American counterparts,...

Latinx directors Alberto Belli (The House of Flowers), Aurora Guerrero, Joel Novoa and Diego Velasco (Orange is the New Black) have launched LatinxDirectors.com, the first site that is specific to Latinx episodic and film directors.
The site focuses on creating a simple user experience for both sides of the pipeline. Studio executives, producers, showrunners and agents will be able to find directors of all genres with specific heritage, specialties, and levels of experience. In addition, users can easily watch reels and access current representation. It’s essentially a valuable resource to seek out creators of Latinx descent.
Velasco said that the idea for Latinx Directors came about a year ago when the founders were sharing similar experiences about executives complaining that there were no Latinx directors to hire for their shows even though they knew so many that were ready to work.

Robert Rodriguez and Diego Boneta are adapting Mexican comic book “El Gato Negro” into a TV series for Apple TV+, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.
The MGM Television-produced project, which is in the early stages of development at the forthcoming streaming service, would be directed and executive produced by Rodriguez and star Boneta, who would also executive produce. “Supergirl” writer Eric Carrasco is writing the script, with Joel Novoa set as a co-producer for the potential series.
Created by Richard Dominguez, the “El Gato Negro” comic is set in South Texas and centers on the intergenerational exploits of two crime-fighting heroes: one a young man who takes up the mantle of a fabled local hero to avenge the death of his best friend, the other his grandfather, a lucha (Mexican wrestler) who went into the vigilante business years before.

With all the breaks occurring this season, Supernatural fans have a valid reason for dubbing this the “Year of Hellatuses,” a term that can be applied to a variety of CW shows. In fact, whenever the aforementioned horror series is forced to endure a hiatus, so too must Arrow, for they’re prime time partners at the moment.
But when Arrow finally does come back in a couple of weeks, expect it to do so with a bang. We say that because not only is Katrina Law returning as Nyssa al Ghul, but she’ll have the mysterious Thanatos Guild hot on her heels. In short, this shadowy cabal is made up by surviving members of the League of Assassins who are in pursuit of a box left behind by Malcolm Merlyn. Though the summer hiatus felt like an eternity, we can now breathe easier with the fall season of DC TV being back in full swing. Not only that, but synopses for episodes set to air during week 5 have now surfaced online, including those for Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow.
First, on Tuesday, November 7, the Waverider crew will cross paths with none other than their former captain, Rip Hunter. Sure, actor Arthur Darvill may no longer be a series regular, but he’s still playing a big part in the grand scheme now that he’s formed the Time Bureau. Thus, we’re guessing this fateful meeting has everything to do with the episode being titled “Return of the Mack,” and not Rip recording a hip-hop album.
Anyway, here’s what we know as of now:

Thanks to the first trailer for Arrow season 6 that dropped last month at San Diego Comic-Con, we’ve been given a lot to look forward to when we rejoin the series this fall. One thing in particular that you may agree with me in saying is among the greatest selling points is that of seeing Manu Bennett returning as Deathstroke for a number of episodes.
In fact, one could say that the return of Slade Wilson is doubly exciting, not only because he’s once again siding with Oliver Queen now that the Mirakuru has burned out of his system, but also because we’ll get to see this iteration of the character be fleshed out thanks to flashbacks set to be explored in a two-episode arc.

From VancouverFilm.Net, Sneak Peek more new footage, plus images from the upcoming "Arrow" episode "Dangerous Liaisons", written by Speed Weed, Elizabeth Kim and directed by Joel Novoa, airing April 26, 2017 on The CW:
"in the previous episode 'Disbanded', 'Oliver' disbands 'Team Arrow' and calls in the 'Bratva' to take out 'Chase'. 'Felicity' goes to 'Helix' and manages to find pixelated footage of Chase taking off his 'Prometheus' mask.
"Oliver allows the Bratva to steal diabetes medicine, before they are stopped by Team Arrow. Diggle eventually tells Oliver they can fix him, if he asks for help.
"Oliver rejoins Team Arrow, taking out the Bratva and saving hostages that 'Anatoly' had taken as leverage. Felicity and 'Curtis' manage to decode Chase's device, revealing Chase as Prometheus to the police.

Maybe it’s just me, but the hiatus we’re currently enduring when it comes to DC TV shows may very well be the most difficult to bear when you consider that the season finales are within reaching distance. Fortunately, we have a few nuggets of information to present while you pass the time, specifically the official descriptions for Supergirl, The Flash and Arrow’s returning episodes.
First, let’s talk Supergirl because it’ll be the first of the bunch to air. In this particular offering, iZombie’s Rahul Kohli drops by (hey, his show is based on a Vertigo comic, so he’s allowed to play somebody else), and pays a visit to his ex-girlfriend – Lena Luthor. If anything, the trailer embedded at the top hints that he’s not to be trusted, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Here’s what we know about “Ace Reporter” so far,...

God’s Slave (Esclavo De Dios) was just acquired for sales by Continental Media, which will hawk it at Afm. It’s by first-time Venezuelan helmer Joel Novoa, who has signed with Original Artists and just signed on to direct ID2: Mad Mohammad. God’s Slave premieres next month at the Mar De Plata Film Festival. The premise seems timely.
