The Star Wars community is still grieving the loss of James Earl Jones, the legendary voice of Darth Vader, who passed away on September 9 at the age of 93.

Jones voiced Darth Vader in several films and television series and was involved in everything from A New Hope to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars Rebels. Most recently, when Lucasfilm brought Darth Vader back in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Jones confirmed that he's stepping back from actively voicing Vader for future Star Wars projects. However, the voice of Darth Vader in the series belongs to Jones.

Jones struck a deal with Ukrainian startup Respeecher, as we reported in 2022, which allowed Respeecher to use archival recordings of Jones' voice to recreate it using AI for Obi-Wan Kenobi. A new report addressed James Earl Jones' Star Wars future as the voice of Darth Vader following his death.

Last week, the legendary actor passed away at the age of 93. A lot of his colleagues and fans mourned his death online and paid tribute to his legacy as an artist and the voice behind one of cinema's most iconic villains.

Since his passing, fans have been wondering how Lucasfilm will handle Vader's voice in future projects and whether they will use artificial intelligence (AI) to continue using his voice even if he's no longer with us anymore.

A recent report laid out some details on how Lucasfilm might potentially handle the future of Darth Vader in future Star Wars projects after the passing of Jones last week.

At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney+ and Lucasfilm revealed the new trailer and key art for Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, which will begin streaming on September 13, 2024.

Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit, and James Waugh presented the show at the event.

The “Lego Star Wars” franchise just dropped a spooktacular new trailer for the upcoming Disney+ special “Terrifying Tales.”

The preview of the Oct. 1 event, which you can view above, reveals the three tales that Darth Vader’s loyal servant Vaneé (Tony Hale) will spin for Poe Dameron and his team, who are stranded at at Darth Vader-themed resort.
