Mick Betancourt is a writer/producer/showrunner. A native of Chicago, Mick began his career on dramas such as Law & Order: SVU (nominated for a Genesis and Alma Award,) Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, The Black Donnellys, Necessary RoughnessS, Detroit 187 and Breakout Kings.
In 2018, Mick was recognized in Forbes Magazine as "8 Writer/Producers Ready For Their First Showrunner Job" after working as the Co-Executive Producer on The Purge (USA Network) and Shots Fired (Fox). The Purge debuted as USA Network's highest premiering show of all time, and Shots Fired starring Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James alongside Academy Award Winners Helen Hunt and Richard Dreyfuss, earned Mick an NAACP Image Award nomination for his episode.
Mick was an adjunct professor at the USC Graduate School of Cinematic Arts as well as a Guest Speaker at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He has taught and consulted for various institutions, studios and networks across the United States, Europe and Africa.
