Günther Beckstein
Graduated from Willstätter High School in Nuremberg in 1962. Studied law in Erlangen and Munich. 1975 Doctorate in law in Erlangen.
1971 to 1988 self-employed lawyer.
Formerly active for many years in the field of Protestant youth work as well as in the YMCA. Since 1996 appointed member of the regional synod of the Protestant Church in Bavaria.
From 1973 to 1978 district chairman of the Nuremberg-Fürth Junge Union; initially deputy chairman, since 1991 chairman of the Nuremberg-Fürth-Schwabach district association of the CSU, member of the CSU party executive committee, 1980/92 state chairman of the police working group of the CSU, since then honorary chairman. Member of the Bavarian State Parliament since 1974, State Secretary from October 1988 to June 1993, Minister of State in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior since June 1993, Deputy Minister President of the Free State of Bavaria since January 2001.
Member of the Bundestag since 2005.
