Mumbai, Jan 23 (Ians) Actress Malvi Malhotra will be seen in the Tamil remake of the 2014 Malayalam film ‘Ring Master’ directed by Rafi.

It is being remade by director R Kannan, who remade films like ‘Jab we met’, ‘Delly belly’, ‘The great Indian kitchen’ and many more.

The film music is given by famous composer D Imman.

Malvi takes Keerthi Suresh’s role in the Tamil remake of ‘Ring Master’, where she will be playing the role of Abhinaya.

Talking about the project, Malvi said: “I’m very happy and excited to be part of this remake and after I watched the film, I was so impressed by Keerthy Suresh role and started preparing for the character and took some workshops as well. Looking forward to give me best to this film.”

Malvi will be seen next in Telugu film ‘Tiragabhadara Saami’, which is set to release on February 23.

Work on director R Kannan’s next film, featuring actress Hansika Motwani in the lead, began on Monday with a simple pooja. The film is being produced by G Dhananjayan, who had also produced director R Kannan’s earlier film, the critically acclaimed superhit film ‘Ivan Thanthiran’.

Sources close to the unit say that Kannan’s upcoming film will be a heroine-centric one and that it would be an emotional, horror-based comedy thriller.

The film’s core story idea came from writer Ma Tholgappian, a source said, adding that producer Dhananjayan developed the story’s screenplay with many interesting elements. Dialogues for the film have been penned by lyricist Srini Selvaraj.

The trio of Tholgappian, Dhananjayan and Srini Selvaraj is believed to have worked on this script idea for more than six months before giving R Kannan a bound script.

Chennai, Dec 10 (Ians) The suspense on the final electoral college to elect the new office-bearers of the All India Chess Federation (Aicf) is expected to end soon, said chess officials.

"The returning officer (Ro) for the polls, retired justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court R. Kannan, heard the various objections raised by the different parties on Thursday," Sanjay Chadha, advocate for Aicf Secretary Bharat Singh Chauhan, told Ians.

"The Ro heard the objections raised by the opposite camp. His order on the electoral college is expected soon," Vijay Deshpande, Secretary, All Marathi Chess Association, told Ians.

Chennai, Feb 19: Director R. Kannan's upcoming Tamil romantic-comedy "Oru Orula Irendu Raja", which went on floors here Wednesday, features a train in an important role.

Kannan has hired an electric train to shoot some important sequences in the film.

"Major portion of the film revolves around a train journey from Tuticorin to Chennai. The film focuses on a series of unfortunate events in the lives of the lead characters during this journey. We have hired a train, which plays an important role, to shoot some important scenes," Kannan told Ians.

"We will shoot with the train for about ten days from March. The shooting will.

Chennai, Nov 1: Director R. Kannan, who has so far remade "Jab We Met" and "Delhi Belly" in Tamil, says his next yet-untitled film will be based on his own script.

"I'm not doing any remakes for now. My next film is a neat family entertainer laced with romance. It is based on original script and has not been inspired from any other film," Kannan told Ians.

"Settai", the Tamil remake of Hindu adult-comedy "Delhi Belly" has its moments of laughter to look forward to, but it definitely misses the soul of the original.

As much as I tried not to compare the film with its original, there are instances in the film where you automatically revisit the Hindi version. In an attempt to do justice to the original, "Settai" fails to innovate and gives audiences more reasons not to like it even when it desperately attempts to entertain in an exercise it partly succeeds in.

Chennai, April 4: If films are watched for entertainment, it is important to enjoy them as they are, even if it's a remake, says Tamil director R. Kannan, known for remaking Hindi films "Jab We Met" and "Delhi Belly" in Tamil.

"I don't understand why two films should be compared even if one is a remake of the other. By comparing, we are only restricting ourselves from enjoying a film. In simple words, we are literally killing entertainment," Kannan told Ians.

"Most remakes are made keeping in mind so many factors, but people very easily discard it by comparing it with the original. Even though I know it's extremely difficult not to expect.

Chennai, Jan 31: Southern director R. Kannan says he translated the real life friendship of his lead actors to make the upcoming comedy "Settai", a Tamil remake of Bollywood film "Delhi Belly".

Disney – Utv has announced the list of films slated for release in 2013. Some of the awaited films are: Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che! which will release on 22nd February, Raj Kumar Gupta’s Ghanchakkar on 21st June and Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha on 15th August.

Chennai, Sep 3: The trailer of "Settai", Tamil version of hit Bollywood adult comedy "Delhi Belly", has got 279,139 lakh hits on YouTube within three days of its launch.

Directed by R. Kannan, "Settai" stars Arya, Premgi Amaren and Santhanam in the roles originally reprised by Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunal Roy Kapur.

Its trailer was release online Saturday and by Monday noon the hits reached 2.8 million.
