Where Are They Now? Checking in on Former Child Stars - Main Image

Not everyone manages to make the peaceful transition from child actor to just actor, and we take a look at the status of some promising young talents from before and where they ended up today.

Keke Palmer remembers being ripped into by Ryan Murphy while working on “Scream Queens” for scheduling other obligations on her off days.
Palmer, who starred in both seasons of Murphy’s “Scream Queens,” wrote in her book, “Master of Me,” that she took an opportunity for a day off while shooting the show to schedule some other business meetings. When productions shifts led the crew asking her to come in on that day, she chose to keep her prior commitment. That choice led to an animated phone call with Murphy where he “ripped” into her.
“It was kind of like I was in the dean’s office,” Palmer told the Los Angeles Times while promoting the book. “He was like, ‘I’ve never seen you behave like this. I can’t believe that you, out of all people, would do something like this.’”
The call shocked Palmer. After a long talk,...

Keke Palmer once held out hope that she would be a familiar face within Ryan Murphy’s television universe, popping up in his projects the same way Emma Roberts, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Darren Criss have over the years.
But after Murphy allegedly “ripped” into Palmer and called her unprofessional while she was co-starring in Scream Queens — Murphy’s short-lived satirical slasher series — Palmer isn’t so sure that’s an option for her anymore, but she’s okay with that.

Keke Palmer recently spoke to the Los Angeles Times about her upcoming memoir “Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative,” which includes one story that alleges Ryan Murphy “ripped” into the actor during their time working on “Scream Queens” together. Palmer played Zayday Williams in the Fox horror comedy, which ran for two seasons in 2015 and 2016.
As reported by the Times, Palmer describes in the book “how she’d been given her shooting schedule and arranged to fulfill another business obligation on a day off. But when that day rolled around, production told her that she was actually needed on set. Jeopardy! fans claimed the game show crossed the line with a recent clue throwing shade at Travis Kelce.
Kelce is known by many as a star tight end who won Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs.
In addition, he’s started to become known for his aspiring career in television and movies, including hosting Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? game show and appearing in FX’s drama series Grotesquerie.
However, he became known by many more people after he began dating pop singer Taylor Swift last year.
The Swifties have a loyal fanbase and will often defend whoever criticizes Taylor or her man, Travis.
That may be why Jeopardy! posted a public apology after recently mentioning the football star during the show as fans blasted them.

Aziz Ansari’s (belated) directorial debut Good Fortune will land in 2025, with Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen leading the cast. More here.
Lionsgate has announced a release date for Good Fortune, the upcoming Aziz Ansari comedy that brings a promising cast together with a fun premise for the actor’s long overdue directorial debut. The Parks & Recreation star has been in the frame to direct his first film for some time, and began production on a feature that was ultimately scrapped.
None of that was Ansari’s fault however. Here’s a quick recap: back in 2023, Ansari was in the midst of production on Being Mortal, a comedy movie he was directing for Searchlight Pictures. During production, an accusation was made about Bill Murray’s on-set conduct which ended up shutting production down. The film never got going again and was ultimately scrapped. Demi Moore, whose performance in Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance” as been praised as Oscar-worthy, will receive a career tribute at the French Cinematheque in Paris on Nov. 5, ahead of the movie’s local release.
The day-long retrospective and tribute are being co-hosted by Mubi, the global arthouse distributor and streamer which has successfully released the bold and bloody movie in the U.S., the U.K., Latin America, German and most other international territories, as well as Metropolitan which handles the French theatrical release, and the French Cinematheque.
The feminist body-horror movie stars Moore as Elisabeth Sparkle, a recently fired daytime-tv who uses a black market drug that creates a younger version of herself, with dangerous side effects.
Underscoring Mubi’s big theatrical push, the movie already ranks as an indie hit, having grossed $53.6 million worldwide since its Sept. 20 release, including $14.5 million in North America. It’s Mubi’s biggest B.

“Call Her Daddy” host Alex Cooper is revealing some info about her fave celeb guests…and also one terrible interview with a male actor that she had to scrap.
If you don’t know, the 30-year-old podcaster hosts the tell-all series, which often has guests making big confessions about their personal lives, sex lives, and more.
Keep reading to find out more…
Alex named some of her fave celeb guests, including Miley Cyrus, Jane Fonda, Christina Aguilera, Keke Palmer, RuPaul, and Chelsea Handler.
She then was asked her “least favorite” guest, to which she responded (via THR), “Least favorite is one that never aired, and I can’t say their name. It was a male actor who just was giving nothing. You could tell he was on a press run. I didn’t want to blow his butt up, but I was like, ‘Bro, you don’t want to be here.

Sorry To Bother You director Boots Riley has brought together a strong cast for his new movie, I Love Boosters. More here.
2018’s Sorry To Bother You (pictured) was one of the most impressive films of that year. It was rich with ideas and it boasted the kind of visual and sonic design that could only emerge from a talented multihyphenate who works across film and music. That of course is Boots Riley and even more impressively, it was his debut feature film.
Five years on from the release of Sorry To Bother You, we haven’t seen Riley return to filmmaking. Instead, he’s been working in music, art and television. He wrote and directed I Love Virgo, the Amazon-backed 2023 show that like Sorry To Bother You, blended high-concept storytelling with dazzling production design.
Perhaps it didn’t work quite as well as his feature debut and that might...

Spoiler Alert: Details follow for Season 12, Episode 3 of “The Masked Singer,” “Soundtrack of My Life Night,” which aired October 9 on Fox.
I don’t want to wait, for “Masked Singer” to be over/ I want to know right now, who will it be?
You’re in luck, Dawson. Revealed on Wednesday night’s edition of “The Masked Singer” were two eliminated celebrities: Singer Paula Cole, whose hits include “I Don’t Want to Wait” (used famously as the theme song for “Dawson’s Creek”), as well as “Black-ish” star Marsai Martin.
Cole was revealed to be the star under the Ship costume, while Martin was singing under the guise of the Woodpecker.
Panelist Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg figured out the Ship was Paula Cole. Ken Jeong though it was Alanis Morissette. Robin Thicke named Amy Lee from Evanescence. Rita Ora said it was Sarah McLachlan.
“I did not know about the show,” Cole told Variety.
