António Mantas Moura (April 28 1997) is a Portuguese director, screenwriter and producer based in Los Angeles.
At just 15 years old, he started an advanced certification in photography at AR.CO - Center of Art and Visual Communication in Lisbon, which he completed in 2015, paving his way into the world of visual arts. Simultaneously, he participated in a film production program, organized by the Caminhos do Cinema Português film festival, subsequently becoming a member of the Film Studies Center in Coimbra. In 2018, he completed a degree in Film Studies, with a major in Film Production, at the University of Paris and, in 2023, he obtained an MFA in Film Directing, from the California Institute of the Arts.
For three years, from 2016 to 2019, António also was the Creative Director of Reclusa, the first not-for-profit social business in Portugal, with the goal of ending recidivism of former female inmates, by establishing a luxury handbag and accessories brand. This is where he began his professional journey alongside his mother, Madalena Mantas, who managed the Reklusa association.
After 10 years of producing many creative projects with his mother, from short films to commercial film productions, he challenged her to establish a production company, Blue Boy Pictures, in 2021. The following year, they produced their first feature film, "Chuva de Verão" ("Summer Rain"), a story inspired by his youth in Portugal, that explores themes of friendship and loss. His brother, Manuel Moura, who oversees the company's finances, also joined this family project.
With Blue Boy Pictures, António intends to create a bridge between Lisbon and Los Angeles, to showcase the best of what Portugal can offer on screen.
