Iac, the digital media and internet services company led by mogul Barry Diller, has upped the ante on MGM Resorts International, eying the growth of the online gambling and sports betting market.
Between Aug. 11-23, Iac purchased shares in MGM Resorts totaling about 41.7 million, increasing its stake in the company to 16.5 percent, the Las Vegas-based hospitality and betting firm disclosed in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday. The move could be an opportunistic buy, given that share prices have ranged between 27-35 in July and August, down from 45-48 at the beginning of the year.
Iac — which backs assets like the Angi digital marketplace, Dotdash Meredith magazines like People and InStyle, and content brands like Ask and news sites like The Daily Beast — disclosed a buy-in to MGM Resorts two years ago, in the middle of pandemic-era shutdowns for resorts and casinos.

“Dating & New York” has a natural feel for its Manhattan milieu and the various ways in which cell phones and dating apps have reconfigured courtship dynamics. Unfortunately, those are the only fresh components of this otherwise routine romantic comedy, which despite a number of self-conscious touches that suggest an innovative approach to familiar material, Winning chemistry between its stars may help it make inroads with millennial audiences when it debuts in theaters and on VOD on Sept. 10 (following its online premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival), but most will likely find their own iPhones a more engaging viewing option.
On a dating app called “Meet Cute,” Milo and Wendy (Francesca Reale) hit it off, sleep together and then go their separate ways, only to reconnect after their respective best friends, Hank (Brian Muller) and Jessie (Catherine Cohen), fall for each other. Rather than attempt a traditional union,...

Exclusive: UTA has signed director, writer and producer Jonah Feingold for worldwide representation in all areas.
Most recently, Feingold’s feature film debut Dating & New York premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival and has already been acquired by IFC Films for domestic distribution in fall 2021. Blue Fox purchased the international rights to the film, which Feingold wrote, directed and produced.
Dating & New York follows a budding app romance between two twentysomethings, played by breakout stars Jabuokie Young-White and Francesca Reale, against the backdrop of Feingold’s native New York City. Catherine Cohen, Brian Muller, Jerry Ferrara, Arturo Castro, Taylor Hill and Alex Moffat round out the cast.
As a lifelong fan of the pioneers of classic romantic comedies, Feingold invoked his own personal experiences and his generation’s challenges of dating in the modern era – where apps and cell phones make it both easier and more complicated – to make the film.

Friends with benefits is not a new concept, but friends with benefits in the millennial age? Maybe that’s a slightly different view of the phenomenon, especially as millennials and gen Z are said to move fluidly between partners, much more so than Gen X and above. Directed by Jonah Feingold and having premiered earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival, “Dating & New York” stars up and comers Francesca Reale, Jaboukie Young-White and Jerry Ferrara.

Two millennials in New York City form a friends-with-benefits contract … what could possibly go wrong?
The first trailer for “Dating and New York,” the movie version of the TikTok trend “two best friends in a room … they might kiss,” explores the trials and tribulations of romantic relationships in the age of read receipts.
The modern love story follows the perpetually single Milo (Jaboukie Young-White) and Wendy (Francesca Reale), who match on a dating app. Rather than ghosting each other or settling into a relationship, the two form a written agreement to hook up without feelings, one that will test the resolve of their otherwise seemingly perfect dynamic.
“This is going to end poorly for you,” Milo’s friend tells him.
For Wendy and Milo, their fate is decided when one of them catches real feelings, and they must figure out how to remain friends, knowing they love one another, or...

"Important question - what happens if one of you catches feelings?" IFC Films has debuted a trailer for an indie romantic comedy titled Dating & New York, the feature directorial debut of NYC filmmaker Jonah Feingold after numerous short films previously. This already premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year and opens in theaters + VOD this September. After an electric one-night stand, two dating-app-matched New York millennials draw up a "Best Friends with Benefits" contract to avoid the pitfalls of their past relationships – what could possibly go wrong? Rhetorical question, because every film that has ever tried to deal with this always gets back to the reminder that oh yeah, feelings will "ruin" everything. Or perhaps feelings are there to guide is in the right direction. Dating & New York stars Francesca Reale and Jaboukie Young-White, plus Jerry Ferrara, Catherine Cohen, and Brian Muller. This looks super adorable and cute and quirky,...

In “Dating & New York,” the film’s central romance isn’t your grandparents’ — or even your parents’ — standard meet cute.
The main characters, single, 20-something New Yorkers Milo (Jaboukie Young-White) and Wendy (Francesca Reale), don’t bump into each other at a bookstore or in the produce section of Trader Joe’s. No, the eventual will-they-or-won’t-they couple become acquainted on a dating app.
“There are so many new rules to the game of modern dating,” says the film’s 30-year-old director Jonah Feingold, who lives in Brooklyn. “Even back when our parents were meeting, it seemed very wholesome, simple. You sat next to each other on an airplane, you were neighbors, you met in law school.”
That’s not the way that many millennials are getting to know one another. A Stanford University study found that nearly half of heterosexual couples met their romantic partner online. It’s...

Francesca Reale, Jaboukie Young-White, Catherine Cohen (High Maintenance), and Brian Muller (The Deuce) star in Dating in New York, an indie comedy from first-time feature helmer Jonah Feingold. Set in New York, the film explores modern dating tropes such as ghosting, orbiting, and profound concepts like an “I miss you” text. Jerry Ferrara, Arturo Castro, Taylor Hill (Broken Heart Gallery), Alex Moffat (SNL), Eva Victor (Comedy Central), and Yedoye Travis (Comedy Central) co-star. The story centers on Wendy and Milo (Reale and Young-White) who, both packing their own emotional baggage (literally), are thrown together to help navigate the city and each other’s dating lives. Their L-Train fueled-quest for love ultimately begs the question: can ‘happily ever after’ truly exist in the age of read receipts? Joaquin Acrich produced the pic with Mason Novick,...

It’s time for A Million Little Things‘ Patricia Bloom to start talking.
I understand that Maggie’s mom is going through something big, emotional and messy as we enter this week’s episode. I similarly understand that Maggie, with her huffy sighs and angry walk-outs, isn’t giving her mom much time to explain exactly what’s going on between her and the affable stranger Mags met last episode. But we don’t get any closer to the truth this week — despite a promising set up for a dramatic brunch at the end of the hour — and it’s frustrating.

For a dead guy, Jerry Ferrara is surprisingly energetic.
On a recent afternoon, the recent Power murderee (and admirably awake/alert real-life new dad to 5-month-old Jacob) was full of enthusiasm as he chatted with TVLine about tonight’s A Million Little Things guest spot (9/8c). It was revealed in May that the hit Starz series’ sixth season was going be its last. However, series creator and co-showrunner Courtney A. Kemp had teased that new shows set in the “Power” universe were in the works and at the show’s Television Critics Association summer press tour she went a step further by announcing that the “first of several” prequel series will be titled “Power Book 2: Ghost,” and will feature Mary J. Blige.
The series will “continue the journey” of some of the show’s “most controversial characters,” Kemp revealed. Blige then joined Kemp and the cast on stage in a surprise appearance.
“This is probably the most exciting thing that’s going to happen to me this year,” said Blige. “I’ve been a fan of ‘Power’ since the very beginning and I want to thank Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent for starting this conversation with me.

The hit Starz series “Power” is coming to an end. The upcoming sixth season of the series, which is set to debut on Aug. 25, will be the drama’s last.
Series creator and co-showrunner Courtney A. Kemp teased that new shows set in the “Power” universe are in the works.
“We will follow some of your beloved ‘Power’ characters beyond the scope of the initial series,” Kemp said in a statement. “But we will play with your expectations of which characters, where, and the master timeline of it all, creating a ‘Power’ universe as unpredictable as the original.”
Season 6 will consist of 15 episodes. It will also feature the directorial debut of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson with episode 603 as well as the return of director Anthony Hemingway for the finale. Hemingway previously directed the first two episodes of the series when it debuted in 2014.

Less than four months after signing a new overall deal with Lionsgate, Courtney Kemp now has a down and dirty project in the works with HBO.
As her three-year deep pocketed deal with the Starz parent company provides, the Power creator is developing Dirty Thirty with the Richard Plepler run premium cabler and Lionsgate.
The New City City set one-hour drama series from seasoned producer Kemp is based in part on the well known tale of real-life rogue cops that operated out of the Nyd’s 30th Precinct in the early 1990s before a slew of corruption investigations and arrests. The real Dirty Thirty cops were engaged in drug dealing, extortion and a lot of strong arming, to put it mildly.
