Luis Blanco-Nazoa is an EMMY Award winning Producer/Director/Writer with more than 25 years of experience creating and developing television news, sports and entertainment programs, documentaries and digital content in the US, both in English and Spanish.
A native of Venezuela and a graduate of Loyola University, New Orleans and the University of California, Irvine Mr. Blanco-Nazoa started his career in the 80s in Port Arthur, TX at the NBC affiliate KJAC-TV. In 1983 he moved to New York and became Creative Director and eventually News Executive Producer for SIN's WXTV. In 1987 he joined Univision Network in Miami and Los Angeles and spent the next 24 years creating and producing news, entertainment and sports programs and specials. While at Univision, he was instrumental in launching the careers of Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), Cote De Pablo (NCSI), Carlos Ponce (Couple's Retreat, ET), Rosana Franco (ESPN Deportes), Felix Fernandez (Republica Deportiva) and Alba Galindo (ESPN Deportes).
As a writer, Luis Blanco-Nazoa won EMMYs for Control and Univision News Specials, and was a ghost writer for Harper-Collins' Spanish language division.
In 2011 he founded Sinamaica, a production company devoted to creating and developing TV and digital content for US Hispanics, both in English and Spanish. Most recently, Mr. Blanco launched his first digital project MasPolitica in association with Mitu Network, and directed the short doc The Other Dreamers for Fusion TV and the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts.
