Damian Navarro-Vaca is a rising filmmaker from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, with a focus on screenwriting and directing. After completing a film production program at the Department of Image and Sound (DIS) at the University of Guadalajara (UdG), he pursued a degree in Audiovisual Media with a focus on Digital Filmmaking at the University of Audiovisual Media CAAV.
His professional development has been enriched through participation in numerous workshops and seminars on screenwriting, directing, and film production, taught by leading professionals from the Mexican film industry. Damian is recognized by the Jalisco Film Commission and Filma Jalisco, where he is listed in the Production Services Registry and the Directory of Professionals of Jalisco.
Known for his innovative use of genre, Damian creates transgressive stories that explore the complexities of human nature. He founded his production company, Cannava Cinema (also known as Mu Cinema), with the aim of producing films, television projects, and content for streaming platforms. His directorial debut, the short film Behind My Doors, was his thesis project and has since evolved into a feature-length project, alongside other long-format endeavors.
