The Paul brothers are no strangers to controversy. Both Logan and Jake Paul grew exponentially thanks to YouTube and somehow managed to build themselves a loyal fanbase despite their troublesome moments. They eventually transferred to the world of combat sports, challenging one fighter after the next.

While they may have had their fair share of hate thrown on them for this, we cannot deny that they are pretty good at what they do, especially Jake Paul. Now a professional boxer, Jake Paul has been reaching new heights and impressing the audience with his skills, whether they like it or not. We have to admit, his boxing career deserves all the praise it can get, no matter what your views are on the man.

Shailene Woodley scored her first-ever Emmy nomination for playing Jane Chapman on the hit HBO series “Big Little Lies.” But, according to Woodley, she nearly turned down the role.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Woodley expressed her excitement over the opportunity to work with Jean-Marc Vallée, calling him an “incredible artist and filmmaker.” However, because Woodley had prior plans to travel to India on a journey of self-exploration, her involvement in the project was initially going to be delayed.
That is until Laura Dern stepped in. Woodley recalled how Dern, who played Renata Klein on “Big Little Lies,” ultimately convinced her to take on the role of Jane.
“She just said, ‘Listen, I know where you’re at in your life, I’ve been there before too. It’s a lot, this world is an illusion, but what isn’t an illusion is what you love to do.

Shailene Woodley has been credited with delivering some of the most entertaining pieces of all time, including her fan-favorite Divergent film series and even the 2013 romcom The Spectacular Now. That said, the fact that she once nearly got kicked out of a $177 million film co-starring George Clooney because of her overacting sounds unbelievable. And yet, it couldn’t be truer.

Turns out, when she auditioned for the 2011 comedy-drama masterpiece The Descendants, the actress was called out about her acting out the scene in a bit too overly exaggerated manner, leading to her nearly getting kicked out of it. In fact, if she hadn’t begged her agents to get a callback for this particular piece, perhaps Woodley may have even ended up losing out on the role!

Was Mary Jane Watson almost removed from The Amazing Spider-Man 2? (Photo Credit – Netflix)
Mary Jane Watson was ready to strut her stuff in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. But she didn’t. Instead, she disappeared. Shailene Woodley wanted to bring that fiery redhead to life, but the final cut didn’t have her.
Now, let’s take a trip down memory lane. Mj first crashed the Marvel Comics party back in 1965—and nope, she wasn’t just another pretty face. She gave Gwen Stacy a severe run for her money! After Gwen’s exit, courtesy of the Green Goblin, Mj swooped in, ready to make sparks fly. Kirsten Dunst nailed it as Mj in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, while Zoë Kravitz brought her voice to life in Into the Spider-Verse.
When filming started for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in early 2013, everyone was splitting up about Woodley stepping into the redhead’s shoes.

With the potential third season of Big Little Lies still up in the air, Shailene Woodley is reflecting on how it all started.
The 2x Golden Globe nominee recently gave an update on Season 3 as she recalled how “my sister,” co-star Laura Dern, convinced her to sign on to the HBO series adaptation of Liane Moriarty‘s book, which ran for two seasons from 2017 to 2019.
“I got a call, I’ll never forget it. It was November or October of 2015. I was really sick at the time and I was not at all exhausted by acting or the artistry and the craft of storytelling, but I was really exhausted by the act of Hollywood,” she told Vanity Fair. “And I got a call about Big Little Lies because Jean-Marc Vallée — our beautiful creator, director, who has since passed — had wanted me to play Jane. Shailene Woodley initially didn’t realize her mother in The Secret Life of the American Teenager was actually an ’80s teen icon.
The actress revealed during a recent appearance on Vanity Fair’s “Scene Selection” that she had no idea who Molly Ringwald was when they first started working together on the ABC Family drama, which ran from 2008 to 2013. Ringwald played Anne Juergens, the mother of Woodley’s Amy Juergens, on the show.
“I didn’t know who Molly Ringwald was,” Woodley confessed. “I was 15, didn’t grow up with a TV. Like, every one of my parents’ friends were like, ‘You’re working with Molly Ringwald!’ And I was like, ‘What is her…. Why? Shailene Woodley latest role in Three Women required some emotional heavy lifting.
The 2x Golden Globe nominee recently opened up about her Starz drama, based on the Lisa Taddeo‘s book, and how she identified with the “emotional complexities” of playing writer Gia.
“I can relate to the micro-elements of all these characters, including Gia,” Woodley told Only Natural Diamonds. “One of the things that causes the most suffering in my life is this feeling of existential aloneness, which is different from loneliness. Three Women has become a pillar [for me] to feel less alone with my experiences and the emotional complexities of having a human heart. I hope it can offer the same thing to other women. Was the Ending of The Fault in Our Stars Too Heartbreaking? Analyzing Its Emotional Impact (Photo Credit – Facebook)
When the credits rolled on The Fault in Our Stars, many viewers were left reaching for tissues and wondering: was that ending necessary? For a lot of us, Gus seemed perfectly fine, a rock of support for Hazel, who grappled with her cancer struggles. He was charming, witty, and always there to light up her world. Their connection blossomed in Amsterdam, where Gus offered Hazel the romance and normalcy she’d craved. But then came the gut punch—his death. Yes, it was heartbreaking, yet there was a certain beauty in it, a reminder of the unpredictability of cancer and how all we truly have is now.
Hazel herself set the tone for the film with a poignant line: “I believe we have a choice in this world about how to tell sad stories.

Of all the overused tropes in the romance genre, terminal illness is one of them. Death, however, isn’t controversial as much as the treatment of the theme. I Want to Eat Your Pancreas is one such example of its treatment of illness. The film’s portrayal of a grave illness contrasts with John Green’s masterpiece The Fault In Our Stars. And there’s more to it.

Green’s movie outlines the complexities associated with the theme. With a sensitive approach, the movie was able to portray grief and loss. On the other hand, the animated movie failed to garner empathy.
Through its controversial move, the film made a complete mockery of terminal illness. Moreover, the author’s approach to death is rather insensitive. What could have been a tragic moment was reduced to a cheap move.

Shailene Woodley revealed how Hollywood “is pretty circular” when it comes to sustainable style, and how her newest daily routine is helping her adopt a more eco-conscious lifestyle.
“I spent six months in one place this year, which is the first time I’ve done that since I was 17,” the 32-year-old star told The Hollywood Reporter at Uber’s Go-Get Zero event on Oct. 8 in London. “So that was a big deal for me and I picked up a lot of habits. Just having a daily routine, it turns out, is so sustainable. I find for myself, when I am in one place for a long period of time, I tend to eat the same thing every day. I tend to be able to meal plan easier. I do most of my own cooking. And so there’s ways to participate in the local economy and the local infrastructure. For me,...

"Joker: Folie a Deux" may have just proven that even big-budget movies won't always top the box office when they have terrible reviews and little love from fans, but apparently the streaming world is still operating on a different level. For nearly three weeks now, the Shailene Woodley and Joseph Gordon-Levitt led film "Killer Heat" has been topping the Amazon Prime movies chart (per FlixPatrol), despite earning an abysmal 15% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes.
It may just be a sparse season for new releases on Prime Video, but given that one of the year's best films, Luca Guadagnino's sexy tennis drama "Challengers," is currently at number six on the most-streamed Prime Video films list, something about "Killer Heat" is clearly appealing to subscribers. The movie, which bypassed theaters and was released directly to Prime, tops a list that as of publication time also includes several kids' films, including John Krasinski's 2024 release "If,...

Now that we’ve explored the official Three Women, the series delved into Gia’s backstory.
It was harder than Gia thought to get her book about sex and relationships published, as revealed in Three Women Season 1 Episode 5.
It was Gia’s worst nightmare hearing she had to start from scratch and that 200,000 words were thrown out.
(Courtesy of Starz)
Parts of Gia’s arc are repeated from previous Three Women episodes, especially when she met her mentor, Gay Talese, who suggested she have sex with married people for her book.
That seemed like such a creepy idea. It also made me wonder how much Lisa Taddeo went through before jumping in a van and driving across the country to meet subjects.
After all, Gia’s story was based on her, and Gia’s arc was very compelling. It made sense that she wanted to talk about other women’s journeys in relationships.

There is a particular scene in White Bird that made me gasp out loud. The scene was not violent; however, watching a teacher insist on chaperoning the Jewish children pulled from her class because they are her responsibility felt like the equivalent of me yelling out during a horror film, “Don’t go in there!”
You cannot argue against how effective White Bird is in terms of engagement. Watching teachers, priests, and neighbors risk, and at times outright sacrifice, themselves to protect Jewish children is compelling, if not heartbreaking. Disturbingly, this has practically become a Hollywood trope.
There are several scenes like the one I described above. Saviors appear on the screen and vanish from sight, never to be seen again. That’s what makes Marc Forster’s White Bird haunting at times—kindness is an enduring theme, but it comes at the cost of one’s life.

Actress Shailene Woodley opened up recently about how her co-star Kate Winslet positively shaped her career when she was just starting out in Hollywood. The two worked together on the 2014 Divergent franchise films when Woodley was 21 years old. In a new interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, Woodley said Winslet played a key role in helping her navigate the challenges of fame and public scrutiny at a formative time.
Woodley described Winslet as authentic and unafraid to show her true self. The Oscar winner had already faced many years in the spotlight from her role in Titanic. According to Woodley, Winslet advised her not to change herself for others or listen to directives about her looks.

A good tasty noir, like “Love Lies Bleeding,” always feels contemporary, even if set in the past; that’s because it should feel as urgent as the love-and-death stakes it’s about. “Killer Heat,” on the other hand, while not quite so old-fashioned that it creaks, definitely plays like a mirage of detective noirs you’ve seen before. To start with: Could there be a worse title? It makes the movie sound like some straight-to-tape potboiler from the ’80s starring Jim Belushi and Daphne Zuniga. “Killer Heat” opens with the voice of its star, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who has a way of sounding like Keanu Reeves’ brainier brother), delivering one of those logy “hardboiled” philosophical nuggets to the audience (“The Icarus myth was set on the island of Crete. And apparently no one there had learned much from his story…”).
But just as you’re ready to nod out, Gordon-Levitt, as...

Just beyond the shores of Crete, a deceptive puzzle awaits unraveling. Director Philippe Lacôte’s sun-drenched noir Killer Heat seems a cheery summer prospect – mystery abounds on an archetypally photogenic Greek isle. But as American expat private eye Nick Bali assumes the case, darkness looms under the warm facade.
Familiar elements dress the setup: A supposed climbing accident proves more suspicious to bereaved sister-in-law Penelope. She privately recruits Nick to peer beneath the surface, suspecting her brother-in-law’s death conceals a sinister hand. Nick delves into the web of a local shipping tycoon’s sprawling dynasty, where fortunes, jealousies, and dangerous undercurrents run deep. All signs point to the tropical paradise hiding more than meets the eye.
Yet for all the genre trimmings, something feels lacking in Killer Heat’s bones. Characters remain strangers, relationships skin-deep. Plot progresses methodically, but scant intrigue arises – a predictable arc unravels foreseeable answers. Solid performances flounder without fertile soil.

I love movies like Killer Heat, not just the movie Killer Heat. This type of knockoff fiction can be recycled and found in any big-box department store, where people gobble it up for summer reading. The film offers virtually nothing new on the subject.
Even from the clothes, setting, and moments of shadowy cinematography. So, studios do what they do: cast attractive leads and saturate the story with a faux-noir style, which many will mistake for originality.
The film is standard by the numbers, dusting off the playbook and following the step-by-step mystery genre production. I almost think the talented cast signed on for the Greek island location entirely.

Shailene Woodley is giving further insight into what she experienced when she was undergoing several health issues in her early 20s.
The actress made an appearance on the She MD podcast, hosted by Mary Alice Haney and Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, where she discussed her new series, Three Women, and her struggles with an undisclosed illness during the early peak of her fame.
When asked if she’d be willing to elaborate on her previous comments about how she was “very sick” while filming the Divergent films, she said she doesn’t feel the need to share what she was diagnosed with because it’s personal but would be willing to talk about what she went through more in-depth.
“It got to the point where I was losing my hearing. I couldn’t walk for longer than five minutes at a time without having to lay down for hours and hours and hours and sleep,...

Life is, so often, not at all like the movies. It’s not even like TV. There was no lightbulb moment, no ah-ha! that made actress Megan Park decide to move behind the camera for the next creative and professional chapter of her life. In fact, during her early days acting on shows like “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and “Life with Derek,” Park said she remembered thinking, “I would never want to be a director.”
But while one part of Park might’ve thought “no, never,” what she was really doing was filing away the things she didn’t want to do when it came time to direct. During a recent interview with IndieWire in lower Manhattan in the weeks before the release of her second directorial effort, the Sundance hit “My Old Ass,” Park reflected on some of the earlier lessons that shaped her into such a wonderful chronicler of young,...

A sexy and evocative portrait of female desire, Three Women, Starz‘s 10-episode limited drama series, sees three women overturn their lives — beginning in the bedroom. It’s based on the 2019 bestselling non-fiction book by journalist Lisa Taddeo, who spent eight years with her subjects. In this adaptation, she’s part of the series as Gia who persuades each woman to tell her story — while going on her own sensual journey. The sex scenes, of course, get plenty of screen time. The difference is they’re messier and more emotional than most of what passes for passion on TV. But Woodley tells TV Insider (watch the video above) that shooting them is “not sexy really, because it’s a choreographed dance. And now that there’s intimacy coordinators, there’s lots of conversation around the actual practicalities of when you’re going to touch someone, what it’s going to be,...

Adapted from the bestselling novel by Lisa Taddeo, Three Women brings intimate stories to the screen. The series focuses on Lina, a neglected wife in Indiana, Sloane, a businesswoman in Martha’s Vineyard with an open marriage, and Maggie, a young woman dealing with trauma from her past. We also follow Gia, a journalist hoping to shine light on female sexuality through their tales.
Showtime and Starz worked together to bring these real women’s experiences to television after Taddeo spent years interviewing them for her book. The show sensitively handles complex issues around sex, empowerment, and injustice. This review aims to understand each character’s journey while examining how the series approaches such challenging topics.
From Sloane navigating attraction outside her marriage to Lina seeking fulfillment denied by her husband, their stories offer glimpse into lives we may not otherwise see. Maggie’s bravery in confronting her abuser despite...

Starz already won the battle for the steamiest show of the fall with “Three Women,” its adaptation of Lisa Taddeo’s 2019 nonfiction book of the same name. But even though this drama is filled with sweaty sex and orgasms, viewers may be surprised by the intimate and insightful themes explored on the show.
“There’s so much focus on the female-centric parts of the show, but to me, it’s just a show about human beings doing the best they can under really intense circumstances. That’s just called life,” series star Shailene Woodley told TheWrap.
“It allowed me to have different insights into parts of myself that maybe I was running from,” the actor behind Gia added. “It’s even something [Taddeo] wrote into the script. It turns out “Suits: L.A.” had 12 million reasons to relocate from Vancouver, where it shot its pilot, to actual Los Angeles. Ok, 12,000,001 if you count the title.
On Tuesday, the California Film Commission revealed the 19 new projects it has awarded a total of $51.6 million in tax credits to as enticement to shoot in the Golden State. Only one was a TV series: “Suits: LA” has been granted about $12 million in tax incentives through the Soundstage Filming Tax Credit Program to move to Los Angeles.
The latest list includes three big-budget feature films and 15 independent films. Of note are the long-rumored (and now confirmed!) Janis Joplin biopic starring and produced by Shailene Woodley. That one got $2.5 million. Another $2.5 million will go to the Artists Equity film “Killing Gawker” — the one for which Ben Affleck is reportedly casting himself as Hulk Hogan. Shailene Woodley has been tapped to play the rock icon Janis Joplin in a new biopic.
Variety reports that Woodley has joined the cast of the film and will produce as well. The yet-to-be-named biopic is being funded by a $2.5 million tax credit from the state of California’s Film Commission, and per Variety, will have a $10 million budget for “qualified expenditures.”
We don’t know much else about the film, but Woodley wrote in a statement that she’s excited to tell Joplin’s story in California specifically. “California meant so much to Janis Joplin — from the stoops of San Francisco to the wooden walls of Sunset Sound, the state became the stage upon which she explored not just the world of music, but the world of her vibrant humanity,” she wrote.

Another day, another “Community” movie update – but this one’s good. The feature film continuation of the beloved comedy series scored a tax credit from the California Film Commission to shoot in the Golden State, marking a significant step forward for the production. The “Community” movie’s expenditure is set at $16.3 million, $3.3 million of which they’ll get back as part of the tax credit program.
The film, written by Dan Harmon, will reunite the entire cast from the NBC series to fulfill the show’s “six seasons and a movie” prophecy. A production start date has not yet been set, but Harmon spent the last year working on the screenplay to get the film in shape.
Overall, the Film and Television Tax Credit Program allocated $39.6 million to three big-budget films and 15 independent films on Tuesday, while another $12 million was awarded to “Suits: LA” through the Soundstage Filming Tax Credit Program.

Shailene Woodley has defended her decision to share Melania Trump’s statement following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
In an interview with Bustle, the Three Women star was asked if she felt she was “misunderstood” after receiving backlash for sharing Melania’s open letter on her Instagram Story. Woodley explained that upon reading the former first lady’s words, she thought, “This is so beautiful.”
“I was in circles of people that I deeply respect — friends, colleagues, progressive, very intelligent thinkers, shakers and movers — and many of them were saying, ‘He missed! Fucking assassin missed! Maybe it was a setup. Maybe it was a conspiracy,'” the actress recalled. “I was going, ‘Have we forgotten that two human lives were taken?’ Two people died. That is sad. That is devastating. I could not understand how people were speaking about something with such passion for death.”

Three Women premieres September 13 on Starz.
The series highlights some taboo and controversial issues that three distinct women experienced, and it will resonate with audiences.
The issues these three women experienced could have happened to any of us. Their stories needed to be told and heard.
Author and executive producer Lisa Taddeo began this journey by traveling the country for eight years, researching these three women’s stories.
Together, she and the showrunner and executive producer Laura Eason have crafted an in-depth look at female desire through Lina, Maggie, and Sloane’s voices. (Courtesy of Starz)
We talked with them and several of the cast to understand this dramatic series, which we’ve seen almost entirely and can’t say enough fantastic things about.
These women shared some enticing information about the series and what to expect from their characters’ journeys.
We hope you enjoy these interviews and return for...

An undersung 90s adventure-thriller — an era when Hollywood valued and respected that genre, and sure as heck knew how to make them pulse-pounding. Even though for me personally, I really like the streaming service's offerings and think it's great at producing quality shows. Outlander of course being No. 1!

Yes, despite the website's consistent fallibility to review bombing, on top of their already flawed and frequently-gamed system, the widely-revered review aggregate is still making steps to gain more credibility, yet all it's doing is further dividing critics and audiences. This heated topic of discourse continues to oscillate between "critics don't know how to have fun" to "audiences are too stupid to be trusted," to the point that it has become a staple in the alt-right culture war.
