American actor Angus Young got an emotional farewell at his hometown of Oakland with a candlelight vigil paying tribute to the late ‘Euphoria’ star. According to TMZ, the town’s local artiste Darin Balaban, painted a 9-foot-tall mural on the wall of an Oakland car wash with over 50 people showing up at the mural for a candlelight vigil, with many bringing flowers and pictures of Angus and placing them at the base of the wall.
Others brought liquor and beer, then the group began playing music, sang songs together, danced and exchanged stories as part of both paying tribute and celebrating Angus’ life and legacy at the mural.
The whole town witnessed a mix of silence and cheers, as the area lit up with the small flames of candle light in a beautifully heartfelt moment to the young actor who passed away at the age of 25. There were tears at...

When I met Angus Cloud last summer, he was still adjusting to his life as the 24-year-old fan favorite of HBO’s then-second-biggest series of all time after “Game of Thrones.” Moving so quickly from being a waiter to starring in “Euphoria” would have driven anyone else to madness, fervently devising strategies for making it all last. But on the day I grabbed dessert with him, all Cloud wanted was to buy the baseball cap worn by the ice cream parlor employees.
Getting to know Cloud, who died on Monday at age 25, was the funniest, strangest experience of my career. As a journalist, my work on each story is meant to end on the day of publication; my subjects are not my friends, and the impact of my writing on their reputations is for the world to decide. But Cloud made that detachment difficult for me. He was widely loved,...

Peter Pan & Wendy takes up again the most classic Disney in, precisely, its anniversary, with one of its most iconic stories.
This time with the appeal of giving us Jude Law as Captain Hook.
Peter Pan & Wendy is a film directed by David Lowery starring Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson.
Peter Pan & Wendy (2023) About the Movie
A perfect opportunity to revisit a classic and make slight modifications to it? Well, that seems to be the idea of Disney and its screenwriters (the film infobox lists no less than ten people on the team).
Peter Pan & Wendy is everything we saw in the 1953 animated version, what we relived with more magic in Spielberg’s Hook and now we return to it with Jude Law playing the bad guy.
There is nothing wrong with the film, except that we have already seen it and, if you are expecting...

Until an actor has reached “offer only” status, auditioning for roles is par for the course. And while some actors love the opportunity to compete for a role, others aren’t as comfortable with the process. Alexa Demie, who stars in the hit HBO show, Euphoria, admits that she finds the whole process embarrassing. But just why does she have such an aversion to going out for roles?

Since its launch in 2019, a pillar of Disney+ has been revisiting and building upon stories from across the Walt Disney Company's brands. Whether that's traveling deeper into a galaxy far, far away with new "Star Wars" shows, uncovering uncharted corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or catching up with fan-favorite characters from beloved shows and movies like "The Santa Clause," "Night at the Museum," or "Enchanted," the House of Mouse's streaming platform continues to offer interesting and exciting ways to revitalize their biggest franchises. Although, the service also creates an avenue to revitalize lesser-known or forgotten properties from Disney's past. With their 100th anniversary just around the corner, that's likely to happen a lot more in 2023. But even before the new year is upon us, the company has announced that they're taking another trip back to Witch Mountain.

Bryce Dallas Howard to star in ‘Witch Mountain’ (Photo credit: Art Streiber for Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment)
Disney+ has greenlit a pilot for Witch Mountain and has tapped Bryce Dallas Howard (the Jurassic World films) to star. Isabel Gravitt (The Watcher), Levi Miller (Streamline), Bianca “b” Norwood (We Crashed), and Jackson Kelly (Straight Man) have also joined the pilot’s cast.
Disney+ is moving forward on what they’re labeling a “modern reinvention” of the Witch Mountain film franchise that kicked off in 1975 with Escape to Witch Mountain. Return from Witch Mountain followed in 1978, and then in 1995 Robert Vaughn and Elisabeth Moss starred in a television remake of the 1975 family-friendly film. Andy Fickman’s Race to Witch Mountain with Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, and Alexander Ludwig debuted in theaters in 2009 and rang up 100+ million at the box office.

Disney is ready to go back to Witch Mountain! As part of a surprise announcement, Disney+ says it’s greenlit a Witch Mountain pilot. Disney’s new Witch Mountain pilot stars Bryce Dallas Howard and several others.
Bryce Dallas Howard plays Audrey in Disney’s Witch Mountain pilot. Audrey is Tia’s devoted and loving mother. Audrey’s husband died from a mental illness, and Audrey tries to reassure a fretful Tia that she shows no sign of following her father’s dark spiral. Having survived multiple Jurassic Worlds, Bryce Dallas Howard now is escaping to Witch Mountain, as a star of Disney+‘s series “reimagining” of the long-dormant film franchise.

With a title like The Hoot Owl, I was expecting a film with the Texan cousin of The Owlman from Lord of Tears and The Black Gloves, or maybe the owl costumed killer from Michele Soavi’s Stagefright. As it turned out this was more like The Hills Have Eyes meets The Evictors than any of those films.
The Hoot Owl begins with clips of a man and a very pregnant woman fleeing something. First in an SUV, then on foot. The guy gets killed and we cut away as the woman tries to hide.

“Euphoria,” the teen drama created by Sam Levinson, became a hit largely thanks to the power of social media. But that level of attention — the series is HBO’s second-most-watched of all time behind “Game of Thrones” — doesn’t come without its drawbacks.
Angus Cloud, who plays “Euphoria’s” warmhearted drug dealer Fezco, has found himself largely misunderstood by many of his fans, who often assume he’s just like his character in real life. In an interview for the cover of Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood issue, Cloud opened up about these comparisons.
“It does bother me,” Cloud, 24, says, “when people are like, ‘It must be so easy! You get to go in and be yourself.’ I’m like, ‘Why don’t you go and do that?’ It’s not that simple. I brought a lot to the character. You can believe what you want. It ain’t...

Josephine Decker knows it sounds a little weird — that the filmmaker behind such tone poems as “Thou Wast Mild & Lovely” and “Butter on the Latch” and internal dramas like “Madeline’s Madeline” and “Shirley” wanted to make an Apple-backed adaption of a popular YA novel for her fifth feature film — but it made perfect sense to her.
“I remember calling my mom when I first got the movie and I was like, ‘I’m making my first happy movie, Mom. You’re going to love it. You’re going to be so excited to watch it!'” Decker said in a recent interview with IndieWire. “She’s like, ‘What’s it about?’ And I was like, ‘It’s about a girl whose sister died.’ But it really is, by far, my happiest movie. It’s much more positive than the things I usually make, and I was really ready for that.

Augustine Frizzell is set to direct “The Invisible Life of Addie Larue,” a feature film adaptation of V.E. Schwab’s fantasy novel.

Karen Maine is directing Rosaline from a script by (500) Days of Summer’s Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.
21 Laps, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing, with Emily Morris and Becca Edelman overseeing the project for 21 Laps, and Sarah Shepard overseeing for 20th Century.

If the last letter you received from your lover was as banal as Augustine Frizzell’s new feature, you’d dump them like a shot. But mercifully for box office figures, we have all missed going to the movies so are inclined to be more open-minded towards snarky men spouting cliches and the women who love them. As long as their dramas play out on the big screen.
At first glance, The Last Letter from Your Lover is the bland, romance by numbers you find in large print novels on local library shelves or mildewing and neglected on a three for a fiver carousel in a caravan park shop. Safe and predictable with tick boxes for a neglectful hubby, Chanel suits, a caddish chap and foreign holibobs. However, this love story has been pepped up by the Soda Stream fizz of a parallel storyline to tickle your fancy when you...

This dual time period romance from Augustine Frizzell, adapted from the book by Jojo Moyes should appeal to romantics as it comes complete with not one but two will they/won’t they affairs but it does require some patience to start with before things get going.
Beginning in the Sixties, the early action involving husband and wife Jennifer and Lawrence Stirling (Shailene Woodley and Joe Alwyn) has the air of one of those Flake adverts from the 70s to start with, all gauzy photography and whispered conversation in burnished hallways. Thankfully, the modern time period is on hand to inject some energy when journalist Ellie (Felicity Jones relishing a lighter role than she often gets) discovers a love letter and, after a meet-cute with newspaper archivist Rory (Nabhaan Rizwan), decides to try to track down the owner.

The past isn’t just a different country, but a different movie entirely, in “The Last Letter From Your Lover,” a lushly mounted pair of love stories — one present, one past — that are faintly enmeshed but almost entirely disparate in tone, style and emotional impression. In the first, Shailene Woodley and Callum Turner fall hard for each other in an obstacle-strewn, 1960s-set romance of chance encounters, missed connections and moist-eyed rendezvous on railway platforms, channeling the vintage Hollywood melodrama of “An Affair to Remember.” In the second, Felicity Jones is a cut-glass hybrid of Carrie Bradshaw and Bridget Jones, falling only incidentally for the awkward archivist who assists her in piecing together the former story, before the narratives merge in a more British, neatly calligraphed rewrite of “The Notebook.”

Based on Jojo Moyes‘ 2012 novel of the same name, Augustine Frizzell’s sophomore directorial effort, “The Last Lover From Your Lover,” is a cozy romance encased in a labyrinthine epistolary mystery. Rotating between a rainy modern-day London and the sun-drenched French Riviera in the 1960s, the film follows two sets of would-be lovers. The film features a hopelessly romantic tone as it opens with an epitaph from Hemingway’s “A Farewell To Arms”: “Why darling, I don’t live at all when I’m not with you.”

‘The Last Letter from Your Lover’ Review: Jojo Moyes’ Time-Spanning Love Story Gets Lackluster Movie
You don’t have to be a sharp-edged journalist to see the obvious connection between the apparent heroines at the heart of Augustine Frizzell’s “The Last Letter from Your Lover,” including dull-edged journalist Ellie (Felicity Jones) and glamorous stifled ’60s housewife Jennifer (Shailene Woodley). Both women have been waylaid by love gone wrong, and can only hope to find true happiness by imagining — and then seizing — a new life for themselves.
It’s certainly a sweet concept for a novel, but one that never quite translates its disparate tones and stories into a cohesive cinematic experience.
But back to those different heroines. Split between two settings — and then, why not, one more — Frizzell’s film tracks the intersecting tales of Ellie and Jennifer, which are bound together by a series of wrenching love letters that captivate both of them. Jennifer was the recipient of those letters, but when we first meet her,...

Shailene Woodley is returning to screens with the Netflix release of the upcoming romance “The Last Letter from Your Lover” on July 23. She was last seen in “The Mauritanian” and, before that, in Drake Doremus’ indie “Endings, Beginnings” and on the second season of HBO’s smash hit “Big Little Lies” — often portraying characters who have to bare more than just their soul.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Shailene Woodley talks about her break from the limelight, grappling with health issues, and her upcoming role. But she also speaks about her approach to filming movie sex scenes, which were demanded by “Endings, Beginnings,” and how she prefers, as THR’s Rebecca Keegan puts it, “realism over modesty.”
“I’ve never felt uncomfortable doing intimate scenes because I’m very vocal,” Woodley said. “I always sit down and talk with the director, the other actor. We always have conversations of,...

Netflix has acquired nearly all worldwide rights to “The Last Letter From Your Lover,” a romantic drama starring Felicity Jones and Shailene Woodley. Financial terms of the deal are not known, but the pact includes domestic rights.
StudioCanal, which put together the picture, will release the film in the U.K., France, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand. StudioCanal’s output partner Svensk will distribute the film in Scandinavia. The company will be selling the film in China, where Netflix does not operate.
Based on the best-selling novel by Jojo Moyes, “The Last Letter From Your Lover” is a dual-narrative love story that follows Ellie (Jones), a young journalist in contemporary London who uncovers a series of love letters recounting a star-crossed affair in the 1960s. That romance between Jennifer Stirling (Woodley) and Anthony O’Hare (Callum Turner) is so intense that Ellie becomes obsessed with finding the couple and discovering how their story ended.

Annabelle Attanasio’s impressive debut, “Mickey and the Bear,” premiered at SXSW, but over Columbus Day weekend it returned to the Hamptons Film Festival, which developed the project at its screenwriting lab. At one point, star Camillia Morrone jokingly pitched herself to “The Farewell” director Lulu Wang, a fellow member of the Winick Talks: Breakthrough Artists panel. “My schedule is open,” Morrone said.
Not for long.
Watching Morrone’s performance as a small-town Montana teenager working overtime to support her opioid-addicted vet father (James Badge Dale) reminded me of that “star is born” moment at the Sundance Film Festival when I first saw Sam Rockwell in “Box of Moonlight,” Tilda Swinton in “Orlando,” Ashley Judd in “Ruby in Paradise,” Kerry Washington in “Lift,” and Jennifer Lawrence in “Winter’s Bone.”
