Damaris Justamante
- Actress
Damaris hails from a musical family in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she was
born, and has been performing since she could speak. Damaris' Father
Daniel Justamante, is from Spain, and worked his way up from a
shoemaker to owning his own business in the shoe mold-making industry.
Damaris' Mother, Maria, who was singing all through her pregnancy,
started her off by reciting Bible passages in front of the church when
she was only one and a half. Upon their move to Miami, FL, when she was
two and half, Damaris continued to entertain publically, and her first
school role was in 2nd grade when she was asked to fill in and
improvise for the part of Santa Clause because the boy who was slated
for the part became ill.
She went on to perform by acting and singing in numerous productions in church, and school, and at one point made money on the side as a Wedding Singer. She pursued her degree in Music Education where she also became a classically trained singer. After attaining night after night of standing ovations for her performance in The Music Man as the Mayor's wife, while still in College, she wondered if she should take this whole acting thing seriously.
Out of college, Damaris became a Music Teacher and after about 5 years, decided to take the plunge into professional acting. However, she soon realized performing on the stage was very different than Film and TV. She took on-camera classes at a conservatory (Fionte Productions) in Hollywood, Florida and shortly after attained her SAG Card. While still in Florida, casting directors sought her out for Commercials, Film, Television, and Voice Over work in both English and Spanish Markets.
Damaris' film debut was in Bad Boys II (2003) in the role of Group Therapist. She worked with directors such as David Frankel in the TV show Grapevine (2000) and Louis Leterrier in the film Transporter 2 (2005). She enjoyed working along side actors such as Logan Lerman, Kiersten Warren, Robert Costanzo, Poppy Montgomery, Martin Lawrence, Joe Pantoliano, and George Eads. Her most far-fetched role was that of a Rap Lip Sync in a Busta Rhymes video where they dressed her up in a red karate suit. She even once played a grandmother in a Hispanic Lotto Commercial. These and many other character roles are what have made Damaris a versatile actress in many productions.
She recently moved from LA back to Miami where she is enjoying time with her family again.
