Upon retiring from the U.S. Military, Jovaun settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where he debuted as an Independent filmmaker (I.F.M.) under Kuunai Survival Solutions. He collaborated with Soulful Minds Media and Kage Cage Productions, becoming a prominent figure in the Jacksonville Independent film community.
Jovaun has contributed to numerous projects as a D.P., Stuntman, Actor, 2nd Unit Director, Producer, and Mentor for many beginning filmmakers in the Jacksonville community. His recent notable works include short films like "The Creature Beyond the Woods," "An Untold Christmas Story," "Life of Death," "F.R.A.N.K., American Ghetto Super Stars," and the 2023 48 Hour Film Festival Winner with Freeman Films in Orlando, Florida.
His ultimate career goal is to direct a feature Sci-Fi film under his own company or with an Industry-level production company and start an industry-recognized film-making learning center.
