Katya Rose(III)
- Costume and Wardrobe Department
- Additional Crew
Katya Rose, pronouns they/she, is a bi-coastal theatrical and film costumer. They were raised in both Ventura, CA (a charming little coastal town to the north of the bustling metropolis of Los Angeles) and Marblehead, MA (a petite harbor town with historic roots to the north of Boston, MA) in their adolescence. Shortly thereafter, their parents made the decision to settle on the east coast permanently. During their formative years, they gravitated towards theatre, musical theatre, and comic book conventions. They began their journey with costuming, in 2010, with a background in costume construction and cosplay; and they greatly favor projects with magical realism, fantasy/high fantasy, sci-fi, and horror.
Katya's first theatrical debut was working as an assistant costume designer/wardrobe supervisor for Boston Children's Theatre during the 2014-2015 season. They worked exclusively on Fame Jr. (Summer 2014) and Pinkalicious (Winter 2014/Spring 2015). Post high school graduation, they attended Emerson College for Costume Design. During their freshman year, they were the costume designer for Monster: The Musical Thriller (October 2015), wardrobe assistant for The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (November 2015), and assistant costume designer for an all female cast of Richard the Third (December 2015-February 2016; directed by Maureen Shea). Post freshman year, they transferred to pursue an undergraduate degree in cultural anthropology. From sophomore year to graduation, Katya worked diligently on behalf of ArtsEmerson. They spearheaded maintenance, mending (by hand and machine), and laundered costumes for international theatrical troupes.
Katya's first film credit was obtained by day playing as a costume assistant. They worked for two months on Apple TV+'s The Shrink Next Door (2022). Soon after, they were asked to work as the background costume assistant for Netflix' Griselda. In a month, they proved their ambition and dedication to the craft. They were promoted to assist both background and principal as well as made to order key costumers. After six months of working on Griselda, Katya was offered a position working on Apple TV+'s Chief of War. With their background in cultural anthropology, and a dedication to uplifting indigenous stories and voices, this was a dream project. They worked industriously for eight months on Chief of War. They assiduously assisted on Amazon Prime's Expats series, and then worked three seasons back to back on The Voice. Following The Voice, they worked closely with Lana Rhoades as a tailor's assistant and coordinator on her spring/winter collection.
