The upcoming docuseries ‘First Act’ showcases the experiences of child actors and their parents in the Hindi TV and film industry. The series highlights the important role played by both parents and the industry in safeguarding the well-being of children.
“This was a project that had been sitting with me on the back burner for some time. Child actors are an integral part of the Indian film and television industry, and many beautiful stories would not be as impactful without them.
“However, these artistes face a unique set of challenges that I felt needed to be shared. I am so delighted that professionals who started their careers as child actors have come forward to support this project, in addition to the stalwarts,” said Deepa Bhatia, the director of the series.

Parineeti Chopra said playing badminton champion Saina Nehwal in the biopic "Saina" became a somewhat easy job because the film's director Amole Gupte is an effortless actor, too.
"I think Amole sir is an extremely effortless actor and during the shooting of Saina, I learnt so much of minimalism in performance. He really taught me how less is more in acting, how just by staying silent, little movements of eyes can depict how an individual is screaming from inside," Parineeti informed.
"Since Amole sir loves children and has worked with them closely, I think he just knows how to extract a performance from an actor. Being a director who is an actor too, there were times he would perform a scene to explain. He could act a very intense scene slowly with a layered performance and it just left me wondering when did the acting start! I really learn the...

Saina
Starring Parineeti Chopra, Meghna Malik, Eshan Naqvi,Pavan Kaul
Directed by Amole Gupte
Thank God for true heroes. And for a film about a true hero like Saina Nehwal rather than some scumbag gangster whose life-story should be thrown into the nearest gutter. Saina is a picture-perfect biopic. Inspiring and engaging, it makes all the right noises (and that includes some wonderfully worded motivational songs in the background) and shuffles its confident feet in the comforting domain.
We may not get to see anything unexpected in this biopic. The bandwidth of storytelling for all sports bio-pics is nearly identical: struggle preferably with a pushy parent goading the prodigy to glory and greatness, the stardom, the fall, the final triumph. Saina goes through the motions with sure-handed efficacy.
The sequences on the badminton court are well shot. Cinematographer Piyush Shah lenses the insecure middle-class girl and her skyhigh dreams in the opposite of rose-tinted glasses.

Mumbai, March 23 (Ians) In 2011, when Parineeti Chopra made her debut with the film Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, and followed it up with films like Ishaqzaade and Shuddh Desi Romance, few would have imagined the cute, bubbly girl in an intense role as Mira Kapoor in The Girl On The Train, or that she would one day transform into ace shuttler Saina Nehwal in the biopic Saina.
If she has managed to prove her versatility, Parineeti says she seems to have rediscovered herself.
"I feel more liberated now, I feel like I found myself again and I feel great to be myself. You see I introduced to the world through the films and the kind of characters I played in those films. Most of them were the bubbly, happy-go-lucky Punjabi girl who is a drama queen too! Those characters were entertaining and people loved me in those avatars.

Parineeti Chopra plays badminton ace Saina Nehwal in the biopic "Saina". The actress says she is glad that only trainers were around on the set and not Saina herself.
"I remember visiting Saina Nehwal's house in Hyderabad to meet her and she told me, 'I have never seen you play sports before'. When we returned, I knew I had to double my training as someone entrusted me with a responsibility to play the sport right. If I can play even one per cent of what she played, I would consider myself lucky. I was glad only my coaches and trainers were there (on the set). If Saina herself had been there, it would've made me very nervous," Parineeti said.
Even though Saina was not physically present at all times, Parineeti reveals that the former was always just a phone call away.
"Saina was very approachable and answered all queries I had.

We have your first look of actress Shraddha Kapoor who is playing the role of the ace badminton player Saina Nehwal.
Shraddha has been practicing for months including many 6 am training sessions while juggling other commitments, she says, “I have already clocked 40 classes of badminton in preparation for this biopic. It’s a really tough sport, but I am enjoying myself. To get an insight into the life of a sportsperson is fascinating. Saina’s journey itself is so interesting — right from her misses to her injuries and victories. I can relate to her journey in a big way, because I have gone through similar experiences in a different field. Despite everything, she has not let her focus shift and that’s what’s truly inspiring.”
