Kostas Stefanakis(1948-2024)
- Actor
Kostas Stefanakis was born and raised in the beautiful island of Crete.
In the early 70s, he moved to Athens, the capital city of Greece, in
order to study acting. Even before his graduation he got the leading
role in the movie "I Koukla" which was written and directed by Alexandros Diamantis.
This erotic crime film is so obscure that no database or book mentions
it. Its own director claims that it was never released properly in the
theaters. A few years later Diamantis re-worked the screenplay and shot
the movie again under the title A Strange Couple (1976).
Kostas went on with his career working with Chris Liambos and Kostas Gousgounis in highly successful erotic thrillers such as Diestrammenoi apo tin genna tous (1974), Burning Passions (1975) and The Pervert (1975). He also had a small role in the movie _Kolasmeni tou sex, I (1974)_ and since then he preserves a friendly relationship with Anestis Vlahos who was the leading actor in that obscure movie.
Stefanakis is a suitable actor for dynamic roles and his 30 year career as an actor proves that. He has worked with giants of the Greek cinema such as Omiros Efstratiadis, Pavlos Filippou, Pantelis Voulgaris, Vasilis Georgiadis, Nikos Foskolos and Nikos Koundouros. His favorite leading role though, was for the video-movie O skylas (1986) which remains a "trash" classic until today due to the hilarious direction/editing and its low production values.
He also appeared in major TV series such as Tmima ithon (1992) and Tavros me toxoti (1994). Kostas Stefanakis is a low-profile person and very easy to work with. His hobbies are diving, swimming, Japanese wrestling and pottery.
