"What are we supposed to do with a giant, broken clock that nobody wants?" Gravitas Venture in the US has unveiled a new official US trailer for a wacky time travel comedy about a family called The Present. It's set for a US debut in June after opening first in the UK this month. A boy discovers that he can manipulate time using a family heirloom - an old grandfather clock. He teams up his siblings in returning to the time of their parents' initial separation in hopes of changing the outcome and stopping them from divorcing. Oh boy, that sounds awkward. Actors Isla Fisher & Greg Kinnear star as the parents, with an ensemble cast including Ryan Guzman, Shay Rudolph, Amir Talai, Alphonso McAuley, Easton Rocket Sweda, Sarah Jane MacKay, Mason Shea Joyce, and Eric Tiede. This plays a bit better than the other trailer we posted before, but it still seems like made-for-streaming cheesiness.

Vivienne Medrano, creator of Hazbin Hotel, already revealed how Alastor died on Earth but also expanded on why he's always seen with a smile.
Alastor, voiced by Amir Talai, was a former radio host and cannibalistic serial killer on Earth before being sent to Hell and quickly ascending to the rank of Overlord.
The means of this abnormal rise to power is a constant question throughout the series, and some fans have even connected it to his permanent grin.

[This story contains mild spoilers for season one of Hazbin Hotel.]
“On paper, there’s a lot of people that might say no to something like this — a very raunchy animated musical comedy world written by a young woman,” Hazbin Hotel star Stephanie Beatriz tells The Hollywood Reporter. But for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Encanto actress, showrunner Vivienne Medrano’s “weird, cool, fantastical imagination” has produced a series that is not only “delightfully horny, unhinged and ridiculous,” but uniquely special beyond its “small minutiae of cock jokes.
“It somehow manages to have this throughline of true gay love and this very big idea about whether it’s possible to redeem a soul, to change after being damned for all time,” she says of A24’s first foray into animation and Prime Video’s latest push into the medium’s R-rated adult space. “I just love Vivienne’s world-building.”
Broadway star and lead voice actress Erika Henningsen offers similar praise.

Hazbin Hotel, the first foray into animation for award-winning studio A24, is actually not new, despite having debuted on Prime Video just last Friday.
The R-rated musical comedy originated online as a 30-minute pilot in 2019 and quickly won over a fanbase that has largely stuck by it since its self-funded days. The series follows princess of Hell Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen), who in an attempt to stop the angels from murderously purging her demonic subjects, opens a hotel to help rehabilitate them. The goal: Turn these sinners into saints unable to be wiped out by the (unsettlingly terrifying) angels.
She’s joined — in certain cases against their will — by friends, funders and her father (that’s Lucifer voiced by Jeremy Jordan). That includes Charlie’s grounded girlfriend Vaggie (Stephanie Beatriz); exasperated bartender Husk (Keith David); sex worker and rehabilitation Guinea pig Anthony “Angel Dust” (Blake Roman); Alastor the “Radio Demon...

Hazbin Hotel, also from A24 and Bento Box Entertainment, centers on Charlie (Erika Henningsen), the princess of hell, who hopes to reduce overpopulation in hell by rehabilitating demons. “This place is about second chances, to convince heaven that the people of hell can be redeemed,” Charlie says in the trailer. “I just hope what I’m trying to do here will work.”

Actors Appreciate George Clooney’s SAG Proposal but Say ‘It’s a Little Bit of Union-Busting’ (Video)
While many SAG-AFTRA members appreciate George Clooney’s $50 million suggestion that he and other A-listers cover the union dues of lower-earning actors as a way to resolve the actors’ strike, some felt it was irrelevant at best and, at worst, “a bit of union-busting.” They said he could make a much bigger impact by showing up at a picket line.
“I think that the idea of raising the caps for that level of entertainer is an incredible idea. I totally agree with it,” said “Two Broke Girls” actress Alexandra Ryan on the picket line at Paramount Studios on Monday.
However, she added, “I think that it’s a sidestep to what we’re trying to do right now. And I also think that there’s a bit of inadvertent union-busting to the proposal. I don’t agree with that piece of it.”

Writer and Actress Felicia Day stopped by San Diego Comic-Con along with some of her cast from her new story “Third Eye.” Day is the creator and star of the web series The Guild (2007–2013), a show loosely based on her life as a gamer. As an actress, Day has played Vi in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2003) and Dr. Holly Marten in Eureka (2011) and had a recurring role as Charlie Bradbury on Supernatural (2012–2015, 2018–2020).
According to Audible, “Third Eye” is about the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel’s performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop.
Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel’s the resident pariah of the magic realm.

Fran Drescher claimed victory in her race for president of SAG-AFTRA on Thursday night, and vowed to lock arms with her fellow union members and “rise up out of the melee.”
Easier said than done.
Drescher takes charge of a union that is famously fractious, and more divided than it has been in recent years.
Even as the star of “The Nanny” defeated Matthew Modine by a narrow margin, Modine’s dissident faction — Membership First — gained seats on the national board, took overwhelming control of the Los Angeles local, and won the election for national secretary-treasurer, the third-ranking post in the union.
Drescher’s party — Unite for Strength — will still command a majority on the national board, observers say. And as president, Drescher will decide who serves on which committee — including the committee that will negotiate the union’s next TV/Theatrical contract in 2023.
But the gains made by Membership...

SAG-AFTRA’s upcoming election is taking shape, with the union’s ruling party – headed by presidential candidate Fran Drescher – today unveiling its full slate of candidates.
Yvette Nicole Brown is running for president of the Los Angeles local, and Ezra Knight is running for president of the union’s New York local – each as part of the ruling parties’ Unite for Strength and Usan slate. Brown, a national board member, is nominated for an Emmy for A Black Lady Sketch Show, and Knight, who co-starred for many years on Law & Order, is the New York local’s vice president and a national board member.
“I believe nothing in our union works unless we are all working together,” Brown said. “As L.A. president I will advocate for each and every member and lead with kindness and respect. It’s been a tough time for us as work here in...

Actors struggling with the career and personal effects of the coronavirus pandemic got some practical advice and sound wisdom from actor Amir Talai and a group of talent agents, experts and SAG-AFTRA insiders who gathered Wednesday night for an online forum called “Our Industry and the Covid Surge.”
“The majority of us are very much hanging on by a thread – emotionally, financially and sometimes physically. The pandemic kind of confounds description,” said Talai, a veteran film and television actor whose credits include Bosch, Family Guy, American Dad! and Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and who also serves on the board of SAG-AFTRA’s Los Angeles local. He noted, however, that he was not speaking for the union.

"People deal with the loss of a loved one in a lot of ways..." The first official trailer has debuted for an indie revenge drama titled A Patient Man, marking the feature directorial debut of veteran editor Kevin Ward. Tom has been in a terrible car accident. After four months of recovering from his injuries, he starts the long process of putting his life back together again. And also begins planning revenge on the person responsible. It's pretty obvious from the trailer what's going on, so it's not really a spoiler or anything, but this does look like a tricky setup for a film to make you wonder what's really happening. Jonathan Mangum stars with Tate Ellington, plus a small cast including Kelsey Scott, David Jahn, Elaine Loh, and Amir Talai. This looks like a low key psychological drama that may be worth a watch. I also dig the minimalistic poster.

"I mean, of course there's a reason - it's called crime." North of Two has debuted an official trailer for an indie ensemble comedy film titled Stuck, which premiered at a few small film festivals last year. This is the feature directorial debut of an actress-turned-filmmaker named Jillian Armenante. Comedian Heather Matarazzo stars as Darby, who finds herself in trouble with the law, and is sentenced to house arrest. Now she must serve 30 days in the home she used to share with her ex-boyfriend Mo, that he now shares with his new fiancee. Sounds like fun, right? The cast includes Amir Talai, Kate Flannery, Joel McHale, and Paul Scheer. Looks like a stoner comedy, a relationship comedy, and a life-lessons drama all rolled in one. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jillian Armenante's Stuck, direct from North of Two's YouTube: Darby (Heather Matarazzo) finds herself in trouble with the law,...

Louis C.K.’s surprising return Sunday to the stand-up stage was met with heavy criticism after he performed a set at New York’s Comedy Cellar.
“Louis Ck being ‘banished’ from stand-up comedy wasn’t some kind of petty punishment, it was a f—ing workplace safety issue,” tweeted fellow comedian Ian Karmel, in a lengthy thread. “Can you imagine the bank you’re working at hiring back the guy who jacked off in front of women without their consent because it had been like, a year or something?”
Comic Dan Telfer was more blunt, telling C.K. in a tweet to “get the f— offstage,” adding, “If you repeatedly undermine other people’s careers so you can trap these human beings and force them to witness you masturbate then you don’t get that career anymore.”

Johnny Depp's surprise appearance at San Diego Comic-Con this year was a shock on multiple levels. The 55-year-old actor, who has recently been wrapped up in multimillion-dollar lawsuits and other public financial problems, stepped out on the Hall H stage on Saturday dressed in the costume of his evil character in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Gellert Grindelwald. His physical presence - a shock of bleach blonde hair, icy blue contacts, a floor-length black coat, and a wand - was enough to catch fans in the audience off-guard regardless, but given the recent controversy surrounding his casting in the sequel, it makes his choice to attend the annual convention even more concerning.
In 2016, Depp was embroiled in a contentious divorce from actress Amber Heard that dragged on for months before ending with disturbing domestic abuse allegations. Heard alleged that Depp "violently attacked" her on a number of occasions...

While nothing is official, we hear the La to Vegas TV show is inching closer to a second season on Fox. The network hasn't made an announcement, but a source indicates some initial steps in season two pre-production have already been taken, in advance of kicking off production over the summer. Earlier this week, we reported creator Lon Zimmet and Steve Levitan were already working on a way to "make some noise" and land a season two renewal. Perhaps they have done just that.
