The sudden nature of last year’s pandemic meant many filmmakers who had begun work on projects were immediately forced to navigate a new climate of production and distribution.
Parish Malfitano’s directorial debut Bloodshot Heart had completed principal photography and was in the process of being edited when Covid-19 hit last year, meaning the latter stages of post-production were conducted amidst the initial lockdown.
Filmed on location in Sydney, the psychological thriller stars Richard James Allen as Hans, a middle-aged man who lives with his mother Catherine (Dina Panozzo) and soon becomes infatuated with young tenant Matilda (Emily David), hatching a dangerous plan to win her affection.
Allen, who also produces with Martin Thorne and writer/director Malfitano, told If the pandemic meant they worked out of a “ghost-town-like Fox Studios”, and were forced to limit numbers in and out of the sound suites at Trackdown Studios, and also Vandal Studios in Redfern.

The performances in Hayride 2 will all go down in history as legendarily awful that is if anyone ever sees this which they should not do. Im not tearing down this film to make me feel good or because I had food poisoning last week (I didnt) and want to take out my anger on this low budget horror indie. Its really that bad. Again nothing worked here. And since I generally call out a remarkable or standout performance in a good review Ill do the opposite here and call out the worst performance in the film of which there are many (i.e. all of them even hottie Adam Cardon).

Amidst all the trailers and teasing that sci-fi fans endure this weekend at Comic-Con, it’s nice to see a little present waiting for them when they hit their laptops this evening. Ark debuted this weekend on Hulu, all at once, in its full nine-episode glory. Right from its unassuming opening, we find female hero Connie (Xena’s Renée O’Connor) whisked away from her couch to some mysterious spaceship biodome—and Ark perhaps? Soon we meet another confused captive (Adam Cardon) who seems to be from another time all together. The two explore their oddly vacant ship—an impressive combination of CGI and constructed set. Yes, this is the same Ark from director Trey Stokes that 60Frames was shopping back in early 2009. Ark was originally created by Robbie Thompson as a graphic novel series that would release on Oni Press, with the web series developed by producers Gabe Sachs...

Trey Stokes of Pink Five fame has released a teaser trailer of his most recent project, a science fiction thriller web series called Ark: The Series, produced by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah of 90210 notoriety. Ark: The Series began life as part of a collaboration between digital media company 60Frames and independent graphic novel publisher Oni Press. If you have already fallen in love with the Alien-esque aesthetics, you're in luck - Ark is supposed to release simultaneously as a comic book and a web series, each dealing with different stories in the Ark universe. All we know about Ark: The Series is that it stars Renee O'Connor (Gabrielle from Xena: Warrior Princess), Adam Cardon and Marjo-Riikka Makela, and that it starts with a woman named Connie being waking up in a pod on a spaceship instead of her bed like she expected. Other than that, details...
