Many people pine for the one that got away. For a swathe of science fiction fans, their great lost love is Joss Whedon’s space western show Firefly, but for a few of us there was also another sci-fi show cruelly cut off in its prime after just a few great episodes in the 00s – and that show is The Lost Room.

Jake Sandvig (Easy A) has signed for the lead role in the TBS comedy pilot Living The Dream. He will play Connor Logan, a charismatic twentysomething who, along with his best friends, reinvigorates a town on the verge of losing its identity by acquiring and re-opening the local brewery. Sandvig, who toplined last year’s Syfy pilot High Moon, is repped by Innovative Artists and Main Title. Exclusive: Mark Hapka has landed the lead role in Parallels, a sci-fi series from Fox Digital Studio. He plays Ronan Carver, a street-smart underground Mma fighter who has been estranged from his family since he was 16 and suddenly finds himself forced to confront his sister and his past in an adventure through parallel universes. Julianna Margulies has been tapped for a leading role in Sci Fi Channel's limited series The Lost Room. Margulies will star opposite Peter Krause in the six-hour series as Jennifer, a mysterious woman who contacts Detective Joe Miller (Krause) claiming that her brother was killed for a seemingly innocuous motel room key, one that actually has the power to unlock a door into a room full of unimaginable power. After Miller comes into possession of the key and his daughter (Elle Fanning) vanishes into the room, he forms an uneasy alliance with Jennifer. Roger Bart also has been cast in the Lionsgate-produced series, which is set to premiere in December. The project already has gone into production in Albuquerque, N.M. Richard Hatem is executive producing the series, which is created and written by co-executive producers Christopher Leone, Laura Harkcom and Paul Workman.
