Caspar Vega
- Actor
Showing a great interest in movies since early childhood, Caspar Vega was part of two youth film clubs between the ages of 11 and 15 before turning his attention from directing to acting after seeing "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" and being blown away by Johnny Depp's performance.
According to Vega's official website, he first started writing in 1999 and taking it seriously in 2009, a few days after he turned 18, which is when he started working on what eventually became his first book, the novella "The Eclectic Prince" which was self-published in 2012 when Vega was 21.
After a three-year hiatus from prose while he was focusing on songwriting and working various day jobs, Vega self-published his second book "The Sexorcism of Amber Holloway" in 2015 after a contract with Portland-based publisher Eraserhead Press who were initially interested in the manuscript failed to materialize.
After quitting drinking that same year, Vega began putting out fiction at a vicious pace, writing three new books in 2016 and another three in 2017. Vega switched his attention to screenwriting in 2018, with his first script a Cardiff-based action pilot. This was followed by multiple feature-length screenplays completed between 2019 and 2023.
Common themes in Vega's books are masculinity, mortality, suppressed emotions, heroism and an obvious distaste for corporate culture while his film work focuses more on aesthetics, dark humor and stories of containment.
He has listed Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Christopher Nolan, Orson Welles, John Carpenter, Dario Argento and Mario Bava as his "Magnificent 7" in filmmaking.
