His deadpan performances in The Office quickly made MacIntosh’s Keith an audience favorite. In one popular scene with Martin Freeman, the accountant takes a large bite out of a Scotch egg while his opposite talks about performing a sexual act on himself.

Gervais was among those paying tribute to the actor, whose passing was confirmed by his talent agency, JustRight Management.

With a title like Nightmare on 34th Street, I was initially hoping for a horror take on the classic Christmas story Miracle on 34th Street but I soon realised this wasn’t the case as this started shaping up as a horror anthology. But that’s okay. A horror anthology with some loose connections on that story could be pretty good too. But this wasn’t the case either. They’ve just chucked that kind of Christmas-sounding title on this Christmas horror anthology.

After the initial disappointment, I was ready to enjoy the movie though. Horror anthologies are a subgenre I generally enjoy but Nightmare on 34th Street is, at best, a mixed bag.

K-shop transfers the Sweeney Todd story to the binge-drinking milieu of Britain as a vigilant kebab shop owner, battles with drunken clubbers. A debut for writer -director Dan Pringle, the film has secured distribution through Bulldog Film Distributors and is set for UK Cinema release in July this year. Empress Road Pictures will be the International Sales agent for the film.

The film follows the story of a kebab shop owner’s son who turns butcher after his father is killed by lawless yobs on a night out and paint’s an accurate picture of Britain’s binge drinking culture by uniquely integrating scenes of genuine night life with the film’s visceral narrative.

Gervais went on to create comedy Extras with Stephen Merchant, which was co-produced by the BBC and HBO and aired between 2005 and 2007. Gervais played ambitious actor Andy Millman, afflicted with a useless agent played by Merchant. Guest stars have included Patrick Stewart, Samuel L Jackson, Ben Stiller and Kate Winslet.

Ricky Gervais played his first concert as The Office favourite David Brent alongside his band Foregone Conclusion last night (October 14).

The iconic character performed a ten-track set in which fellow cast member Ewen MacIntosh (Keith Bishop) introduced Brent to the stage.

Former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows joined Gervais on stage as part of a backing band, performing at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London.

Gervais appeared as his alter ego dressed in a waistcoat and oversized sunglasses, commenting: "Fashion, innit."

Tracks included 'Free Love Freeway' which Gervais first sang in the TV comedy's debut series as the boss of Wernham Hogg.

Another song was dedicated to the character's hometown Slough.

"I'm based in Slough, probably the best town in the world," he told the audience. "Everything in this song is factually accurate, so you should learn something."

Touted by some as the herald of one of Britain's most promising young directors, Tom Harper's debut film The Scouting Book For Boys is a bit of a mongrel. It longs, unashamedly, to be a quirky, parochial indie-comedy, whilst striving, also, to hit those Loach, Leigh and Meadows notes of gritty slice-of-life gravitas, whilst all the while revelling in a halcyon, perfume ad, perpetual-sunset aesthetic. Australian pop singer-turned-"X Factor" host, Dannii Minogue, is up for another feature film role. According to Ananova, the younger sister of famed songstress Kylie Minogue has been signed in to star as Rio Ruse, an MI6 agent who is also a lab technician in British spy thriller entitled "Vauxhall Crossed".

Though her role is reportedly a small one, it will still have some significant effects to the plot as Ruse is set to save fellow agent played by Hugo Speer in a shoot-out. This part won't be Minogue's first experience starring in a movie as she has minor role in Jan Wentz's 2004 "The Porter". Minogue will be joining the cast that include also Ewen MacIntosh and Sarah Jayne Dunn.

Aside from Minogue and other actors rumored to be involved, it is said that the producers are considering to cast Sienna Miller's former boyfriend, Rhys Ifans, to be the psychotic villain.

British funnyman Ricky Gervais has put his vocal abilities to the test - by singing the theme song to new sitcom Toyboize.

The 46-year-old has loaned his vocal talents to the online comedy show, about a washed-up band desperate to make a comeback, written by and starring Gervais' former The Office co-stars Jamie Deeks and Ewen Mcintosh.

And Gervais - who does not appear in the show - insists his short stint in 1980s pop group Seona Dancing makes him the perfect candidate to record the track.

He says, "I thought the idea of the show was really funny and as a failed popstar myself, I jumped at the chance of writing a bad song."...
