Nearly two months after the death of Tito Jackson, the Jackson 5 singer was laid to rest Monday in the same cemetery as his brother and band mate Michael Jackson.

Tito was buried during a private ceremony at Glendale, California’s Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where family patriarch Joe Jackson was also buried upon his death in 2018.

According to the Associated Press, siblings La Toya Jackson and Marlon Jackson, as well as Michael’s children Paris and Bigi Jackson, were in attendance.

The Palm Springs International Film Awards has announced that Oscar nominated actor Colman Domingo is this year’s recipient of their Spotlight Award, Actor for his performance in director Greg Kwedar‘s “Sing Sing.” The ceremony will take place on January 3, 2025 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running January 2-13.

Colman Domingo is getting into the director’s chair for the first time for Scandalous. The movie will come from Miramax and has been fast-tracked to start production. Deadline is reporting that Domingo is planning to start filming after completing season 3 of Euphoria and he’ll be bringing along his co-star Sydney Sweeney along for the film. Sweeney is also on board as producer and will be active in its development like her involvement with Anyone But You. Sweeney is also producing the film alongside Tani Cohen and Bobby Rock, with Jon Levin executive producing. The movie will come from a script written by Matthew Fantaci.

Steven Spielberg has been putting together quite the cast for his next major project, and Deadline reports that Colman Domingo (Euphoria) is in early talks to join up.

As for the project itself, we don’t know much about it, only that it’s said to be a UFO movie based on Spielberg’s own original idea, with David Koepp (Jurassic Park) writing the screenplay. A UFO movie from the man who gave us Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and War of the Worlds is pretty much all I need to know. Bring it on. Universal Pictures has already slated the project for a May 15, 2026 release.

Tito Jackson, the founding guitarist of iconic ’70s hitmakers The Jackson 5 that featured a young Michael Jackson and is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, died Sunday after reportedly having a heart attack while driving. He was 70.

I guess when they've run out of recognizable IP, they've gotta center stories about recognizable faces instead. Last year alone we saw "Maestro," "The Iron Claw," "Napoleon," "Ferrari," "Nyad," "Priscilla," and "Big George Forman," not to mention brand movies like "Blackberry," "Tetris," "Air," and "Barbie." And then, of course, there's "Oppenheimer," which not only took home seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, but also became the highest-grossing biopic of all time. No shade to our boy Oppy, but it seems like a new film from Antoine Fuqua is coming for that title and the fact it's a movie about the most famous musical performer to ever live certainly gives the project a leg up on the father of the atomic bomb.

Not everyone is thrilled that there’s a biopic being made about pop sensation Michael Jackson. The director of “Leaving Neverland,” the HBO documentary that delves into accusations of Jackson’s alleged child abuse, last month accused director Antoine Fuqua’s film of being “a complete whitewash” and that it aims to “completely rewrite the allegations and dismiss them out of hand.”

However at CinemaCon on Wednesday, “Michael” producer Graham King took the stage to say that the new biopic, currently in production, “will get into all of it.”

King promised “Michael” includes 30 songs and recreations of Jackson’s performances throughout his career but also depictions of “his life outside the public eye, things many people have never seen before.”

Dan Reed, director of the documentary Leaving Neverland, is calling the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic “a complete whitewash” of Jackson’s life.

Reed’s documentary covers the alleged sexual abuse by Jackson against two young boys, Wade Robson and James Safechuck. Reed, who says he read the script for the biopic Michael, says the film fails to address the allegations against Jackson.

In a statement, Reed said, “It’s an out-and-out attempt to completely rewrite the allegations and dismiss them out of hand, and contains complete lies. You never even see him alone with any boys when it is a matter of fact that he shared his bed with small children for many years.”

The biopic will star Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, in his acting debut. Other cast members include Colman Domingo as Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson and Miles Teller as John Branca, Jackson’s manager.

But next year’s Academy Awards season could also concern this year’s as the Oscars afterglow effect could be in full force. Actors can often garner a quick follow-up nomination after breaking through in the nominations list the year prior. Eddie Redmayne accomplished this when he followed up his 2015 Best Actor win for “The Theory of Everything” with a 2016 Best Actor bid for “The Danish Girl.” Similarly, Octavia Spencer was nominated for Best Supporting Actress two years in a row — in 2017 for “Hidden Figures” and in 2018 for “The Shape of Water.” So, which of these year’s acting nominees could return next year? Director Greg Kwedar’s feature is set to hit theaters in July after premiering at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Sing Sing focuses on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts (Rta) program that allows prisoners at New York’s Sing Sing Correctional Facility to produce and act in their own stage projects. The movie stars Domingo and Paul Raci alongside a cast comprised mostly of formerly incarcerated actors, many of whom previously participated in Rta.

Sing Sing follows the real-life friendship between inmates John “Divine G” Whitfield (Domingo) and Clarence “Divine Eye” Maclin, who plays himself, as the group works to put together an original production entitled Breakin’ the Mummy’s Code. Colman Domingo is on a remarkable run, and ahead of Oscar night and his nomination for “Rustin,” A24 has released the first trailer for his next moving drama, “Sing Sing.”

Greg Kwedar directed “Sing Sing,” which follows the true story of a leader of a theater troupe in prison and how they use acting to escape the realities of their incarceration, putting on a play all while Domingo’s character is seeking parole. The film is based on a real-life rehabilitation program, and the movie even features a cast that includes formerly incarcerated actors.

Domingo leads the cast that also includes Paul Raci, an Oscar nominee for “Sound of Metal.” And A24, which picked up the film out of last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, has announced it is eyeing a theatrical release this July for the movie. It will have its U.S. premiere at the SXSW Film festival on Friday.

Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson biopic has found the rest of its Jackson 5.

The company announced eight new castmembers on Tuesday who are joining the biographical film Michael to fill out both the younger and older versions of Jackson’s four brothers — Jermaine, Marlon, Tito and Jackie Jackson — comprising the family band that rose to prominence in the 1970s. Director Antoine Fuqua’s movie is currently in production and hits theaters April 18, 2025.

Jayden Harville will portray the younger Jermaine, with Jamal R. Henderson (Mindhunter) playing his older self. Marlon will be played by Jaylen Lyndon Hunter in the younger years and Tre Horton (My Enemy Alpha) later in life. Tito will be brought to life by Judah Edwards in the early years and Rhyan Hill (The Michael Blackson Show) later. Nathaniel Logan McIntyre will portray the younger Jackie, while Joseph David-Jones (Roman J. Israel, Esq.) will step into the older version.
