The half-hour animated series is set in a not-too-distant future L.A. where master chefs rule the town and people literally kill for a seat at the best restaurants. A mysterious sushi master named Jiro enters a bloody culinary war and begins to craft his recipe for revenge.

This weekend at the Camden International Film Festival, the Archival Producers Alliance (APA) released the first-ever industry-wide guidelines for generative artificial intelligence use in documentary film. GenAI is a thorny topic throughout the film and TV world, but it poses specific and unique challenges to nonfiction, where primary sources, historical documentation, and archival imagery are fundamental building blocks.

The guidelines address this threat directly in its introduction: “The APA believes that the survival of the documentary industry — in all of its power and promise to help us understand and interpret our history and our present — is contingent on maintaining a truthful and transparent relationship with viewers.”

For this reason, the guidelines are focused explicitly on using GenAI to create new footage or alter existing primary source materials. The APA distinguishes between GenAI and other Machine Learning, or AI that is being incorporated into production workflows for ideation, transcription, and logging footage.

He has found one. CNN — CNN? — will on Saturday launch Wood as host of “Have I Got News For You,” the U.S. version of a U.K. comedy mainstay. In “News,” two teams of comedians, newsmakers, actors and media personalities use news clips and headlines to drum up jokes and gags, all improv-style, though a round of different segments. A biopic of Anthony Bourdain is in the works, with The Holdovers breakout Dominic Sessa in talks to play the late celebrity chef and travel documentarian. As first reported by Deadline, Sessa, who portrayed Angus Tully in the Oscar-nominated film The Holdovers, is in line to play Bourdain in Tony, a biopic from Star Thrower Entertainment, the production company behind The Post, King Richard, and Eternity. The outlet also reports that A24 is in talks with BlackBerry director and co-writer Matt Johnson to helm the project. Johnson is a Canadian actor and filmmaker known for his low-budget independent feature films The Dirties (2013) and Operation Avalanche (2016) and the Vice comedy series Nirvanna the Band the Show. Lou Howe and Todd Bartels wrote the screenplay for the film, while A24 is in talks to produce with Trevor White and Tim White under their Star Thrower banner, along with Johnson and Matthew Miller.

Dominic Sessa, who broke out this past year in Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers, is set to star as the beloved food world icon for a feature film from the New York-based studio A24 and King Richard outfit Star Thrower Entertainment.

Matt Johnson, who is behind the well-received Blackberry feature, is set to direct from a script by Todd Bartels and Lou Howe.

A24 is in talks to produce with Tim White and Trevor White under Star Thrower. Johnson and Matthew Miller would also produce with Emily Rose set as an executive producer. A24 and Star Thrower recently wrapped Eternity, starring Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen.

Sessa is represented by CAA, Untitled and Hansen Jacobson; Johnson is represented by CAA and Akin Gump; Miller is represented by CAA and Akin Gump.

Trevor White and Tim White will produce through their Star Thrower Entertainment banner, along with Matthew Miller and executive producer Emily Rose. Matt Johnson, director and cowriter of “BlackBerry,” will also produce and is in talks to direct from a script by Lou Howe and Todd Bartels.

Bourdain achieved global fame with his unflinching book “Kitchen Confidential,” which pulled back the curtain on the cutthroat world of culinary arts with acerbic wit. He then turned that fame into critical acclaim as a travel documentarian, first with the Travel Channel show “No Reservations” and then with his CNN series “Parts Unknown,” the latter of which won 12 Primetime Emmys.

Bourdain committed suicide in 2018. His life became the subject of a 2021 Morgan Neville documentary, “Roadrunner.”

Fox streamer Tubi is launching in the UK.

The free ad-supported platform, which is also available in Latin America and Canada, will roll out today as the 10-year old streamer slowly grows its international footprint.

Tubi kicks off in the UK with more than 20,000 movies and TV episodes including the likes of Marvel’s Runaways and Billy Elliot, and originals such as Slay, with content from Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Speaking to Deadline, CEO Anjali Sud explained that Tubi’s movie library will be “10 times the size of a [British] broadcaster” at launch and be available on “every major platform.”

“It’s taken us a long time to perfect and hone our approach to having a huge library, removing barriers and frictions, and listening to our audience,” she added. “We feel in a place where we are ready to go to UK market.”
