Coming from a family of artists, Youssef Sanheji decides to follow his parents' path, not in theater but in cinema. He studied cinema at the Higher Institute of Multimedia Arts in Manouba where he produced a documentary "Cascade", an experimental film "C2H6O" and a fiction "A last REC".
He wrote and directed a fiction "Aquarium" that won the price of the best picture at Erato film festival, that was selected in JCC Tunisian festival, Karama film Festival in Jordan and Africajarc festival in France. Youssef also co-wrote and co-directed another experimental film "AQUA" that won two prices in Goethe Institut and IFT competition and participated in Inter Film Festival in Berlin and Clermont-ferrand Festival in France. In 2018 he made a documentary of observation '' 60 Waiting Shots and a Shot '' who won the price of the Best Documentary Award at Tunisian Short Film Nights in Paris, was selected in international competition at Fifak, Whakapapa Film Festival in Italy, Afrika Film Festival in Belgium, Premiere Mediterranean Documentary Film Festival, Short Film Gabes ... He also participated in the writing residency of Fidadoc in Morocco in 2018 and the AFS documentary workshop in Los Angeles in 2019.
