Apart from Robin Williams, other influences in his comedic-acting endeavors include Red Skelton, Peter Sellers, Harold Lloyd, Rick Moranis, and Steve Martin.

His first experience with voice acting was in the form of one half of a squabbling comedic duo in an independent video game. When the other voice actor dropped out, Rylan was asked to portray both characters (One, American. The other, British). So, you could say, his first gig was to argue with himself.
