- Everlyn Lee Marie Sampi was born Oct 6th, 1988 in Derby as the 4th child among three older brothers and one younger sister following.
She belongs to the indigenous Bardi tribe, but her paternal grandfather comes from Glasgow, Scotland (UK). Her mother works as a director in a bigger aboriginal corporation, her uncle is the well-known AFL (Australian Football Legue) player Ashley Sampi.
During her childhood she relocated frequently with her family within the Kimberley Region including Darwin and Broome, until they settled for a longer time in Djarindjin, a small aboriginal town nearby the Dampier Peninsula.
When famous Australian director Phillip Noyce and casting director Christine King looked in Summer 1999 for aboriginal children to play the main actresses in Rabbit Proof Fence, Everlyn was brought to their attention by a friend of her mother. She quickly stood out between all competitors and got the leading role as "Molly", the lead character.
For her great performance she won the Australian Annual Lexus IF Award for Best Actress on Nov 6th, 2002, and afterward returned back to schooling at John Septimus RoeAnglican Community High, spending only holidays with her family in Djarindjin.
After graduating at the Broome Senior High School in 2006, she spent time as a child welfare worker, entered several regional modeling competitions (Kimberley Girl, Miss Roebuck) as a role model for young indigenous women, and today is considering to intensify acting.
She lives together with her family in Broome, Western Australia, and became mother of two children (2014, 2019).
