Gia Franzia
- Actress
- Producer
- Casting Director
Gia Franzia was born in Santa Monica and grew up in Orange County. She
graduated from Long Beach State University in 1999 with a degree in
Theatre Arts. Immediately upon graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to
live and work in the heart of the movie industry. Never having been on
a movie set, Gia enrolled in several casting agencies as an extra to
learn and experience "the magic"" of movie making during her first year
in Hollywood. Soon thereafter, she produced and starred in her first
feature film, Peace of Heart.
While continuing to audition and book movie parts, Gia enrolled at one of LA's top acting schools, Playhouse West, founded by Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum. She studied at Playhouse West for four years, routinely acted in plays, and was often invited to be part of scene night. When time permitted, Gia consistently volunteered to work behind the scenes as sound operator, lighting specialist, and stage crew for multiple shows.
In 2006 and 2007, Gia helped produce and star in Special Dead and Rattle Basket. Rattle Basket coveted Best Feature Film at the 2007 Winnipeg International Film Festival as well as Best Ensemble Cast at the 2007 Wine and Country Film Festival. Since then, she has consistently booked leading role parts in feature length films such as Wild Sunflowers, Night of the Flesh Eaters, Trick of the Witch, and most notably, Based on True Events in which all her scenes are shared with William Forsythe.
While Gia's passion remains acting and producing, in 2009, she opened up her possibilities and co-wrote her first feature film. In July 2010, with 5 months of pre-production, Gia produced, starred, and co-wrote her first film, Baby of Mine.
Gia will continue to act, produce, write, and create opportunities for herself because she believes that her passion, her hard work, her dedication, and her persistence will pay off.
