Greg Poppleton worked in heavy industry before beginning his acting career on radio, stage and ultimately, film.
He was discovered in a cattle call for a kids program and made his movie debut in a scene with Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge! (2001). He has since been in one-on-one movie scenes with Adrien Brody and John Goodman.
On TV he has recently appeared in the series Barons (ABC), The Last Days of the Space Age (Disney +), Year Of (Stan) and many more.

On stage, Greg has played Joe Keller, the lead in Arthur Miller's 'All My Sons', the Greek philosopher, Soptoros, and John Stark (Scott Joplin's manager) in a one-man show with ragtime orchestra.
He grew up in Sydney, Australia, the fourth of five children to Bert, a bus driver, and Aileen (Stapleton), a shop worker. He is of English and Irish ancestry.
After being top of his school, Christian Brothers Burwood, he won a scholarship to attend his final two years of high school at the selective Fort Street High School in Sydney.
Poppleton has an honors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, and was a consultant engineer before entering professional radio as an audio operator and broadcaster at age 28 (SBS and ABC Radio). He has a Graduate Diploma in Communications, with a writing and textual theory major, from the University of Technology, Sydney, and is a published short story author.
Greg Poppleton is Australia's only authentic 1920s-30s singer with over 1.3 million YouTube views. He has released eight albums that have received local commercial and US airplay. He also produces and hosts the networked jazz mix, The Phantom Dancer, heard on 30 community radio stations across Australia and online.
He is married with two sons.
