Dawn Westlake is President of Ron de Caña Productions, Inc. in Los
Angeles, California, USA. She graduated at the top of her class from
Northwestern University's Radio-TV-Film program and was the winner of
the university's Richter Scholarship for a thesis she wrote on TV3,
Televisió de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain). She won the Mark of
Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for a
televised interview with former President Jimmy Carter on the subject
of international human rights violations. As a filmmaker, she's made
nineteen short films since 2000 in the U.S., Spain, France, and Portugal
which have won 52 international awards, collectively, and which have
played at hundreds of festivals and venues around the world. Westlake
is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Italian and Portuguese. Her work
has been translated into Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Turkish,
Chinese, Japanese, Hindu and Farsi. She has judged film festivals in the USA,
France and Italy, and has been honored with retrospectives of her work at
the 2007 Portobello Film Festival in London, UK, the Fellini Foundation in
Rimini, Italy in 2014 and at the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur, CA in
2016. She directed the TV series "Look Who's Stalking" for NBC Universal
which aired on the BIO Network in 2013.
