- He was laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park in Los Angeles, beside his father.
- Halfback with the Los Angeles Rams (1946-1948) and one of the first African Americans, along with Woody Strode, to play in the National Football League after World War II. African Americans played for league teams from 1920-1933.
- Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1956.
- He was a son of Blue Washington, and Marian Lenan.
- In 1950, played minor league baseball (6 games) with the Los Angeles Angels of the Pacific Coast League.
- Inducted into the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Athletics Hall of Fame in 1984 (charter member).
- Played college football at UCLA along with Jackie Robinson, Woody Strode, and Ray Bartlett; all 4 being black men at a time when black football players were a rarity in the collegiate game and nonexistent in the professional ranks.
- Played with the Hollywood Bears of the Pacific Coast Professional Football League, 1940-1945. The league was considered the top level professional football league on the US West Coast before the NFL expanded.
- Has one son, Kenny Washington, Jr.
- Grandson of Susie Washignton.
