Texas Gov. Greg Abbott suggested that he wants to end transgender and gender nonconforming individuals from expressing their gender while teaching in the state.
At a speech delivered Friday at the Young Conservatives of Texas convention, Abbott described a report of a high school teacher who wore feminine clothing rather than clothing that matched their gender assigned at birth. Abbott said this teacher “was a man who would go to school dressed as a woman in a dress, high heels, and makeup” and declared that he wants to “end” that...

The Florida federal judge assigned to the court case brought by Disney against Gov. Ron DeSantis has recused himself after learning last week that “a relative within the third degree” held 30 shares of Disney stock.
Judge Mark Walker wrote in court documents filed Thursday that he must step aside since his relative’s “financial interest” could be affected by the case. “The size or dollar amount of the third-degree relative’s financial interest is irrelevant,” he wrote.

Magnus has been named president of content, according to a new memo from Pitaro reviewed by Variety, and will supervise studio shows, live events, newsgathering, investigative journalism, original content/ESPN Films, talent, audio, digital, and social media.

Tom Holland’s video game adaptation “Uncharted” has lost “10 Cloverfield Lane” director Dan Trachtenberg, multiple individuals with knowledge of the project tell TheWrap.
Trachtenberg replaced Shawn Levy, who departed due to scheduling conflicts. Sony Pictures is still moving forward with the project and expects to name a replacement soon. In addition to the “Cloverfield” spinoff film, “10 Cloverfield Lane,” Trachtenberg’s credits include “Black Mirror: Playtest” and the pilot of “The Boys” for Amazon.
Holland stars in the action-adventure film based on the PlayStation video game series about the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake. Mark Wahlberg was at one point attached to play the swashbuckling, Indiana Jones-type hero, but Sony opted for a younger take on the character. The latest draft of the script was written by Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker. Joe Carnahan wrote the original draft.

President Trump’s supporters broke into a “send her back!” chant directed at Ilhan Omar during his rally in Greenville, North Carolina, on Wednesday night — and guess what? Republicans are very concerned.
So troubled were some members of the party’s leadership in the House of Representatives, Politico reported on Thursday, that they convened with Vice President Mike Pence over breakfast to express their discomfort, urging him to relay their concerns to the president. He must have gotten the message, as Trump told reporters at the White House that he...

What would you all think about Zachary Levi playing Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie? The actor recently shared that he would love to play the adventurous character. As you know, Tom Holland is currently attached to play a young version of the character, but Levi would gladly step into the role if things didn’t end up working out with Holland.
During a panel at Ccxp Cologne in Germany over the weekend, Levi was asked which video game franchise he'd like to lead, if given the chance, and this is what he said:
"I played the first Uncharted when it first came out, I was like, ‘That dude’s the new Indiana Jones, I want to be the new Indiana Jones, I’m finding out where the movie rights are,’ and I called Naughty Dog, and I got on the phone with whoever, I was like, ‘Hi, you don’t know me,...

Sony Pictures has set the release date for director Dan Trachtenberg’s film adaptation of Uncharted for December 18th, 2020.
Tom Holland (Spider-Man) is set to star in the film as a young version of the Nathan Drake. The story for the film is said to take place when Nathan Drake and Sully, his surrogate father, were much younger. “It’s an origin story that evolves out of the game but is not from the game."
We don’t know who is playing Sully in the film yet, but the last we heard, Chris Hemsworth, Matthew McConaughey, Chris Pine, and Woody Harrelson were up for the role. Here’s a description of Sully that was previously provided by the studio:
"Rugged and handsome, equal parts refinement and contagious charm, Sully is the kind of guy who turns heads when he walks into the room. Sully is a highly skilled career criminal...

Stop me if you've heard this one before. Sony Pictures has finally found its director for their live-action Uncharted film. Dan Trachtenberg, who broke out with “10 Cloverfield Lane,” will direct Sony Pictures’ adaptation of the hit video game “Uncharted.”
Trachtenberg replaces Shawn Levy, who had to depart the project due to scheduling conflicts. Sony has been hoping to work with Trachtenberg since “10 Cloverfield Lane” opened in 2016.
“Uncharted” is based on the PlayStation video game series that follows the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake. The film stars Tom Holland and chronicles Drake’s first encounter with the professional rogue Sullivan. Sony has been trying to get the film off the ground for quite a while, originally going with veteran actors like Mark Wahlberg. After the success of “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” the studio began scouring the development slate to find Holland’s next project and decided a younger Drake character would work out well.

As someone who has spent a good amount of time in various escape rooms over the last few years (and I’ve probably lost more than I’ve won), Adam Robitel’s Escape Room was—as the kids these days are saying—completely my jam. From the high-energy script to the excellent ensemble assembled onscreen to the wondrously intricate production design and breathtaking set pieces, Escape Room delivered everything I was hoping for and more, making it the perfect way to kick off a brand new year of horror.
The setup for Escape Room is pretty much what you’d expect if you’ve seen just one trailer: six strangers find themselves in the mix of a mysterious escape room scenario, all driven by different reasons for accepting the challenge. But the group quickly realizes this contest of will and wit has far grander stakes than they could have ever imagined,...

The Uncharted movie is a major prospect for Sony Pictures, which set Spider-Man star Tom Holland as the headliner.
Uncharted, the acclaimed, top-selling adventure video game franchise, has been sitting on the movie adaptation backlog of Sony Pictures for several years. Previously circled by a wide and diverse array of would-be stars and directors, the project is seemingly taking shape with Tom Holland set to star.
The Uncharted movie will be based off a script by Rafe Judkins and the duo of Art Marcum & Matt Holloway. Previous script iterations involved names such as Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker, as well as David Guggenheim, Eric Warren Singer and Joe Carnahan.
Sony has high hopes for the film, having expanded its production team, bringing in recently launched movie/television arm PlayStation Productions. Yet, as auspicious and/or intriguing as Uncharted seems, especially with the Spider-Man star as headliner,...

Today's feature is not your typical slasher flick... in fact, it's not typical of anything, except maybe the decade in which it was made (it was completed in 1983), and it proudly defies any simple or logical explanation for what it is, or even why it exists. The first feature film from director Gorman Bechard (best known to horror fans for the crazed slasher satire Psychos in Love), Disconnected is better described for what it isn't than what it is: while it does depict a series of bloody murders, it isn't really a by-the-numbers slasher; while it has oddball pretensions of artiness, it's not an experimental/art-house film; and it's hardly ever been seen by the public, outside of a very limited VHS run. I was exposed to Disconnected just last weekend, via a very rare 16mm print at a “Secret Sixteen” screening at the Jumpcut Cafe in Los Angeles... and...
