After starting as a journalist in the written press, radio and
television, Nicolas Steil, producer and director, founded his
production company, Iris Productions S.A., in Luxembourg in 1986.
As of yet, he has produced or coproduced more than thirty fiction, animation and documentary feature films in French, English, German or Luxemburgish.
Since 1997, he's Secretary General of the Luxembourgish Film Producers' Union (ULPA) (which he co-founded) and as such, negociates with the authorities to further develop the Luxemburgish film industry.
On the international level, he became the Exclusive Legal Representative in the Grand-Duchy of International Copyright Collecting Agency, AGICOA, in 1989 and founded ALGOA (Luxembourgian Copyright Collecting Agency) in 1999.
At the beginning of 1991, and for 5 years, he was appointed General Manager of European scheme EURO AIM (Media Program if the European Union), in charge of helping finance and market European audiovisual productions.
He directed several theater plays as well as his first feature film, Réfractaire (The Undercover War) which he co-wrote and co-produced. The film won several prizes in international film festivals throughout the world and represented Luxembourg in the 2009 Best Foreign Film Academy Award race.
