Dulcie Smart is a New Zealand-born actress - working out of Berlin, Germany and Melbourne, Australia. She began her career as a stage actress playing lead roles in Shakespeare and Chekhov as well as in contemporary drama by e.g. David Hare, Caryl Churchill, Sam Shepard, Louis Nowra and Lanford Wilson in Wellington, New Zealand.
She moved to Germany in the early nineties and has
played a broad range of roles in film and TV working with directors including the Wachowskis, Tom Tykwer, Margarethe von Trotta and Mike Newell as well as in theatre productions in Berlin and London.
She appears as herself in the documentary Krzysztof Kieslowski: A Masterclass for Young Directors.
Dulcie Smart has an MA (hons) degree in English Literature from Auckland University, and a post-grad Lizenziat in Journalism (Lic. rer. publ.) from Berlin's freies Universität. She has also worked as a television arts correspondent and news producer for Germany's international broadcaster DW-TV. Dulcie Smart is one of Germany's leading English-language voice actors.
