The Marvel Comics character Thor officially made his live-action debut in the 1988 TV movie The Incredible Hulk Returns. But the year before that, Thor was a major presence in a teen comedy film about a group of youngsters having a wild night in downtown Chicago. The kids deal with gun-wielding car thieves, knife-wielding gang members, a homicidal tow truck driver, and a lot of other odd characters and dangerous situations. Their lives are put at risk on multiple occasions. And throughout, Thor’s iconic helmet is worn by an eight-year-old girl who looks up to the character… and believes he’s real. By the time the night is over, she might be proven right… Or maybe not. Whatever the case, there’s a whole lot of Thor in the 1987 film Adventures in Babysitting (watch it Here). And it’s time for it to be Revisited.

Following the massive success of The Blair Witch Project, production company Haxan Films kept the found-footage train going with FreakyLinks (originally titled Fearsum). While not everyone recognizes this hidden horror gem of television, those who do might recall its harrowing history. Considered by many to be ahead of its time, FreakyLinks is an entertaining time-capsule of what it was like to be on the weirder side of the internet before the turn of the 21st century.
Prior to its TV debut, FreakyLinks’ developers launched a paranormal-sleuthing website similar to the homespun one seen in the show. Sadly, the internet marketing did not pay off; shortly after premiering on Fox in October of 2000, the series was temporarily taken off the schedule due to low ratings. The network aired more new episodes that following January, yet once again, Fox pulled the plug. After the remaining episodes were burned off in June of...

Grimm, Season 2, Episode 4: “Quill”
Written by David Simkins
Directed by David Straiton
Airs Mondays at 10pm Et on NBC (Fridays at 9pm Et starting 9/28)
This week on Grimm, a Wesen plague hits Portland, Monroe woos Rosalee the old-fashioned way, Hank finds his footing in Grimm lore, and The Families are sending yet another assassin after Nick.
The Yellow Plague we’re introduced to this episode seems to manifest first in pigs and then move into Wesen. First it raises the libido, then it presents like a mixture of the rumored “zombie virus” and hemorrhagic fever. It’s quite a nightmarish disease and the makeup and effects live up to the description. However, the show minimizes the threat by spreading it to no more than four plague victims and making it easily curable- hardly an outbreak of a plague that can wipe out entire villages. Most of the main plot...

Given the recent surge of 1980s popular culture nostalgia, discussions of that decade’s iconic films unfailingly revert to the unique 1980s teen comedy genre, always dominated by the catalog of John Hughes. But sadly, some outstanding films from that era are overlooked or even forgotten, and all teen movies from this period seem to be unfairly compared to Hughes’s work. One such semi-lost and under-appreciated gem is director Chris Columbus’s delightful 1987 teen comedy “Adventures in Babysitting.”
The movie opens in Chicago’s Oak Park suburb with the pretty, charming, 17-year-old girl next door Chris Parker (Elisabeth Shue) preparing for a romantic evening with her dreamy boyfriend Mike Todwell (Bradley Whitford). Mike finally arrives, only to inform Chris that his younger sister is sick, and that he is unable to take her out. “There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition. And it lies between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone.”

Chicago – Enter the middle ground between light and shadow with the amazing Blu-ray release of the first season of one of the best television programs of all time — “The Twilight Zone”.
Packed with remarkable special features that are all perfectly shaped around a show that has lost absolutely none of its power despite the decades since its original airing and the myriad of programs that it inspired, “The Twilight Zone: Season 1” is the best TV-on-bd release of the year to date.
Blu-ray Rating: 5.0/5.0

Tomorrow Sci Fi will morph into Syfy, dropping its generic name in favor of a unique term that can be trademarked globally as the channel rolls out its brand to territories around the world. The metamorphosis of the channel--at least in terms of its name--will coincide with the launch of dramedy series Warehouse 13, which stars Joanne Kelley (Vanished), Eddie McClintock (Bones), and Saul Rubinek (Frasier). Warehouse 13, executive produced by Jack Kenny and David Simkins, isn't your conventional sci-fi series, but rather a sci-fi-tinged screwball dramedy about two very mismatched Secret Service agents who are forced to work together after they are transferred to a mysterious South Dakota warehouse. Said warehouse houses all manner of dangerous artifacts and powerful items that are best kept under lock and key. Overseen by punctilious caretaker Artie Nielsen (Rubinek), the Warehouse contains an arsenal of arcane objects that could wreak chaos in the wrong hands.

At The Flickcast we love pretty much anything the Sci-Fi Channel shows. Of course, we’re particular fans of anything BSG-related like Caprica and the upcoming The Plan. Yes, we even like some of those Sci-Fi-Original Movies featuring the monster of the week. They’re fun.
So, that said, we’re obviously pretty anxious to see what the network decides to showcase at Comic-Con in San Diego this year. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait any longer to find out because they’ve announced their schedule and we’ve got it for you right here.
The channel will be bringing quite a few shows and cast members to the Con including the cast and creators of Stargate Universe, Caprica, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, Eureka, Sanctuary and Warehouse 13. With three weeks left until 2009 San Diego Comic Con is kicked off, the number of guests attending the international event is growing. Most of these guests are the lead actors, the creator(s) or the executive producer(s) who will give support to their respective show during the panels.
Fox was the one who came up with its list first, confirming the participation of Eliza Dushku and creator Josh Whedon in support of "Dollhouse". But newly announced are the guests for Sci-Fi series like "Warehouse 13", "Stargate Universe" and "Sanctuary". Expected to represent these three series are Eddie McClintock, Robert Carlyle and Amanda Tapping respectively.
"Caprica" in particular, will share the Ballroom 20 with TV movie "Battlestar Galactica: The Plan". Therefore, the actors and producers in support are the people behind the two productions: Edward James Olmos, Ronald D. Moore, David Eick, Jane Espenson and Esai Morales.

“Imagination, n. A warehouse of facts, with poet and liar in joint ownership.” - Ambrose Bierce Sci Fi--or Syfy as it will be known then--will next month launch its newest drama, Warehouse 13, which stars Joanne Kelly (Vanished), Eddie McClintock (Bones), and Saul Rubinek (Leverage). As executive producer Jack Kenny describes it, Warehouse 13 is an "action adventure proceduromedy." Kelly plays Myka Bering, an analytical secret service agent whose cool head keeps her above the fray, while McClintock is Agent Pete Lattimer, who's more used to using brawn over brains to get out of scrapes. Both are transferred rather unexpectedly to their new assignment: Warehouse 13, a top-secret government warehouse in the middle of South Dakota that houses arcane and dangerous artifacts. Brainy logic meets brawny cocksure attitude. (Or as McClintock succinctly put it, "That’s why Joanne and I are so like suited for our characters because it’s true.

In July, Sci Fi Channel, which by then will be called by its new moniker, Syfy, debuts a new series, Warehouse 13. Starring Joanne Kelly (Vanished, Jeremiah), Eddie McClintock (Bones, Desperate Housewives), and Saul Rubinek (Frasier, Leverage), the paranormal themed show is set in South Dakota, where the U.S. government maintains a warehouse that houses “strange artifacts, mysterious relics, fantastical objects and supernatural souvenirs”.
Kelly and McClintock are two Secret Service agents who, after saving the life of a president, are transferred to the South Dakota facility, where they meet the caretaker, Artie Nielsen, played by Rubinek.
McClintock’s Pete Lattimer sees the assignment as a reward, but Kelly’s Myka Bering can’t help but feel like she’s being punished. Regardless, their new responsibility is to chase down new objects that belong in the warehouse.

Chicago – Oscar madness has left the Round Up a little weary of high profile, award-bait movies. We need a break from the Oscars and what better way to do that than with a few titles that might have slipped through the cracks while everyone was singing “Jai Ho”.
Catch up with some of your favorite characters from the cult hit “Dead Like Me,” watch the latest in Warner Brothers’ direct-to-dvd horror series known as “Raw Feed,” and check out a documentary that I think everyone thought would make bigger waves than it did, Bill Maher’s “Religulous”.
All three of these titles were released on February 17th, 2009.

There’s something about grocery stores. They have a sort of charm that’s currently going three for three, as far as recent horror/sci-fi entries with that setting go. Both The Mist and last year’s Splinter were excellent examples of the “trapped in a market” theme, and now comes Warner’s Raw Feed DVD release Alien Raiders (out February 17)—which, while not overly original, is nonetheless pretty awesome.
The film opens with some shaky handheld insight into our protagonists, getting ready for their next mission. Intercut between video clips and the main titles are shots of hands preparing some seriously heavy firepower. This is a risky move; it basically promises, “This flick is going to have bad-ass written all over it.” And it works. The characters we’re following are a team of operatives/mercenaries/soldiers of some sort with rad names like Ritter (Carlos Bernard), Sterling (Courtney Ford...

Straight up. "Aliens Raiders" as a title does not do it for me, and that alone almost prevented me from seeing it. I’m glad I did see it, however, because Alien Raiders is a good film, but the title honestly made me itchy. Now, I say this not as an off-hand “this is just me” comment, but because this film has had a number of different titles since its creation ("Supermarket" [which I love as a title] and "Inhuman" [which is the title of one of Sonic Youth’s best songs, so…]), Given this “identity crisis,” as Dread Central so aptly put it, I know the name has been of some concern. But I get it. Genre film. Old-school genre film. And since this movie is going straight to DVD I imagine it doesn’t hurt to cast the biggest net. So, I’ll concede.

The Sci Fi Channel has announced that Jack Kenny (Book of Daniel) and David Simkins (The Dresden Files) have joined the writing staff of Warehouse 13, a new dramatic series scheduled to run for 11 episodes on the channel in July.
The series begins production this February in Toronto and stars Eddie McClintock (Bones), Joanne Kelly (Jeremiah), Saul Rubinek (Frasier), and Cch Pounder (The Shield). It was conceived by Farscape’s Rockne O’Bannon and the two-hour pilot was written by O'Bannon, Jane Espenson (Battlestar Galactica) and D. Brent Mote.
The network describes the series this way:
After saving the life of the president, two Secret Service agents find themselves abruptly transferred to Warehouse 13, a massive top-secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota that houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. What's so funny about a warehouse that the government stores its top secrets? Viewers will apparently find out as the SciFi Channel's new executive producer Jack Kenny is named showrunner for "Warehouse 13" as it begins production of its first season. Kenny, a producer on such series such as "Caroline in the City," "Titus" and "Wanda At Large," will take on his second project with David Simkins, who also joined as an executive producer. The two last worked on "Book of Daniel," the highly controversial and short-lived NBC series that aired in 2006 that Kenny created. The series, which begins production next February in Toronto, was created by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Battlestar Galactica" writer Jane Espenson, "Farscape" creator Rockne O'Bannon, and writer D. Brent ...

A few days ago we saw another fresh episode of Eureka, brought to us by the Sci-Fi Network. We saw Zoe (Jordan Hinson) in a busy haze for the mayoral race, thus leaving her science lab partner to accidentally create another sun. We also saw Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Zane Donovan (Niall Matter) don themselves with some protective gear to literally put out the sun.
While we aren’t bringing you a sneak peek into next week’s episode of Sci-Fi’s Eureka, we do have some good news for Eureka fans out there who are just eager for a show of the same genre. In fact, the network recently announced that they are working on a new series which will serve as a companion show for the already successful Eureka.
