Netflix has submitted a total of 32 TV programs for awards consideration at the upcoming Golden Globes, and 20 for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Gold Derby has learned exclusively.

Some of the streamer’s notable TV titles include Season 2 of “Squid Game,” the survival thriller starring Emmy and SAG winner Lee Jung-jae; popular new comedy “Nobody Wants This,” about an agnostic woman (Kristen Bell) and an unconventional rabbi (Adam Brody); and “Baby Reindeer,” the buzzy limited series that recently set the Emmys on fire, going home with six trophies. See the full list of submissions below, broken down by show.

Note that the Golden Globes have lead actor and lead actress categories that are separated by TV genres (drama/comedy/limited), but that the supporting actor and supporting actress races encapsulate all genres. As of last year, the organization also now offers an award for the best stand-up comedy special on television.

Any 13-year-old would be anxious presenting an award to a room full of adults, especially the best in their field. But Harper Beckham said she was particularly nervous because “tonight is a school night and hopefully this isn’t going to get me into trouble.” The occasion was the 2024 Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards. The feature debut of renowned music video director Colin Tilley will be shopped at the upcoming American Film Market.

“Eye for an Eye,” a sinister revenge horror set in the marshlands of Florida and starring Whitney Peak, is being launched at the market by HanWay Films, which is repping international rights. WME Independent is handling domestic sales.

Netflix just shared the first photos of Bridgerton season four’s hot new couple: Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). The four photos were taken on the new backlot at Shepperton Studios as filming begins on the eight-episode fourth season.

After much speculation on when the cast and crew will start filming, that speculation ends today since we now have confirmation that production has begun. While filming is taking place in the United Kingdom like always, the cast and crew will also be shooting at a new filming location this season.

Filming on “Bridgerton” Season 4 is officially underway at Shepperton Studios in London, with Netflix sharing a new behind the scenes image of Yerin Ha and Luke Thompson on set. The season will focus on Thompson’s Benedict as he pursues Ha’s Lady in Silver, Sophie Baek.

In Benedict’s book, “An Offer From a Gentleman,” Benedict meets his love interest Sophie at his mother’s masquerade ball, which Eloise says is happening in a few months in the Season 3 finale.

Yerin Ha, soon to be seen in Dune: Prophecy, has joined the cast of Bridgerton season four as Sophie Baek aka the Lady in Silver. Ha will be a series regular in the upcoming season, playing a maid who catches Benedict’s eye.

Netflix offers this description of Ha’s character: “Sophie Baek has been forced to spend much of her life working as a maid for the most demanding employer in the ton. But the resourceful Sophie always finds a way to persevere through her circumstances — which will drastically change after she disguises herself to attend Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball and meets Benedict Bridgerton.”

Speaking with Netflix’s Tudum, Yerin Ha talked about what she loved about Sophie. “What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome,” said Ha.

Bridgerton, the hit Netflix series based on Julia Quinn's historical romance novels, immediately conquered the streaming giant when it dropped its first season in December 2020.

In April 2021, Bela Bajaria released a statement to announce the third and fourth installments of the series.

"Bridgerton swept us off our feet,” the vice president of global TV at Netflix said. “The creative team, led by Shonda [Rhimes], knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the ‘Bridgerton’ business for a long time to come.”

Still, before diving into the newly released Part 2, I’m unpacking the promises of the first four episodes, which welcomed back Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton as Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton amidst a whirlwind of new styles, suitors, gossip and relationships.

Season 3 promises to cash in on the mounting tension and intrigue of Penelope and Colin’s complicated relationship foreshadowed since the early stages of the series. Penelope, a frequently overlooked wallflower leading a secret life as high society’s most relished gossip columnist, has shaped the show’s atmosphere as her pen persona, Lady Whistledown. This season, can she make a splash in society as herself and finally secure a match that will bring her as much happiness as the love stories she reads by her window?...

Bridgerton stars Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton turned heads at the season three part two premiere in London last week, where they reunited with cast mates and celebrated the highly anticipated continuation of the hit Netflix series.

Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, and Newton, who portrays Colin Bridgerton, held hands as they posed for photos on the red carpet. Co-stars, including Golda Rosheuvel and Simone Ashley, joined them.

In an interview with Good Morning America, the pair discussed the overwhelmingly positive fan response to season three.

“It’s overwhelming,” Newton said of the show’s massive popularity in London, where it’s filmed. “It’s hard to come to terms with the scale here in London where we live. It’s wild.”

Newton expressed excitement for viewers to finally see the rest of the season, which explores the romantic storyline between Penelope and Colin.

“I can’t wait,” he said.

One of the things that sets Bridgerton apart from other period pieces is the way it doesn't try to fit into the constraints of historical accuracy. The universe, complete with Ariana Grande, Madonna, and Pitbull instrumental covers and blind casting for all the major roles, was set up from the beginning.

While some people find the show to be too modern, that is exactly what fans love about it. And while they sometimes wish the show would tone down the unrealistic makeup and costumes, overall they are happy with Bridgerton just the way it is. Fortunately, the writers have no plans to change anything.

When Did Queen Charlotte Die?

While the Bridgerton universe is mostly whimsical and happy, the Shondaland-produced show doesn't shy away from more gruesome and heavy themes. In the first season of the show, we witnessed the murder of Lord Featherington, and in the second season, we...

Bridgerton fans know that the series, as well as the spin-off Queen Charlotte, are based on historical events. It’s based in the early 19th century and some real-life historical figures appear in the show. England’s King George III and his queen consort Charlotte Mecklenburg-Strelitz are the central figures in the spin-off.

As much as viewers love Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel, it’s entirely possible her time on Bridgerton could be coming to an end. Season 3 takes place around 1815. The real queen died in 1818.

In Bridgerton Season 3, Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and newcomer Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli) have a relatively easy time. No one is thrown from a horse, like Kate Bridgerton (Simone Ashley) in Season 2. And neither party is holding a deep, dark secret, like Penelope Bridgerton (Nicola Coughlan). The couple spent the majority of the final two episodes on the outs after Colin (Luke Newton) found out in the worst way Penelope’s (Nicola Coughlan) lingering secret that she is Lady Whistledown. When Pen went to her printer to get an emergency Whistledown pamphlet out — to shut down Cressida’s (Jessica Madsen) claim that she is the ‘Ton’s infamous gossip columnist — Colin followed her. When he saw her leaving, it all finally clicked — a web of deceit spun by his fiancée.

The revelation blows up their blissful bubble, as the will-they-won’t-they pair finally got engaged at the conclusion of part one. While they do still get married, Colin, feeling betrayed by Pen, spends the first few nights after their wedding sleeping on the couch,...

“Bridgerton” Season 3 is no fairytale. Instead, the second half of the season, arguably some of the most vital chapters in the franchise, is about taking up space and having the courage to face the consequences of your actions. As Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) transition from friends to lovers, the pair realize if their union is going to work, they must foster an environment of openness and honesty, even if it requires standing in opposition to societal expectations.
