Mika Ronkainen is an award-winning film director and screenwriter from northern Finland. Ronkainen's latest work, a psychological crime drama series All the Sins (2019) has been highly successful both in his native country and around the world. Originally commissioned by Elisa Viihde, the series has been shown worldwide in several territories, including HBO, Sky Showtime and Channel 4.
In 2013, Variety magazine selected Ronkainen as one of the ten up-and-coming European directors to watch.
Ronkainen started directing documentary films at the age of 26. His latest documentary, Finnish Blood Swedish Heart (2012), was awarded with two Finnish Oscars (Jussi Awards) for Best Documentary Film and Best Music in a Film. After having created internationally successful documentary films Finnish Blood Swedish Heart (2012), Freetime Machos (2009) and Huutajat - Screaming Men (2003), which screened at several international film festivals including Sundance, Tribeca Film Festival, IDFA, and Karlovy Vary, Ronkainen ventured into the world of scripted drama with All the Sins (2019).
