Jack was a world class skier in the 1940s and 1950s. Making the U.S. Olympic team twice (1948 St. Moritz and 1952 Oslo, finishing 7th in the slaloms at St. Moritz). He was U.S. National Ski Association National champion in the Downhill and Combined and Harriman Cup winner in 1948. He also was the National Ski Association Slalom and Combined champion in 1950 and 1952. He also was the youngest competitor ever at the Ecker Hill ski jumping competition, where he won the Class "B" title in 1942. He was inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame in 1969, the Utah Sports Hall of Fame in 1973 and in 1992 was honored by the University of Utah's J. Willard Marriott Library Ski Archives as a Legend of Skiing Competition.
