2004 was a notable year for television viewers. “Friends” wrapped up its 10-year run; Ken Jennings had his first winning streak on “Jeopardy!”; Illinois senator Barack Obama made a splash with a keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention; new series “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives” became obsessions. And the news was constantly filled with stories from the Iraq war.

Humbard is aware that a faith-based music channel might not have been the obvious choice for a new network, but he saw indicators that told him they were on the right path. “The landscape was really good at the time,” he says.

Major Spoilers follow for X-Men ‘97!
Well, that was quite the ending! We imagine you have a lot of questions regarding the popular Disney+ show’s finale. Beau DeMayo’s animated series certainly went out with a bang in the final episode of its first season, titled Tolerance Is Extinction – Part 3.
Marvel put a great finish to the first season of X-Men ‘97, laying the groundwork for an exciting future for the revived mutant series and raising the stakes significantly for the live-action X-Men films in the MCU.
En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse in X-Men ’97
Even though the X-Men saved the planet once again and maybe even partially restored humanity’s faith in them, this was not a happy ending, and many questions remain for the already-confirmed second season of X-Men ‘97.
Amidst all this, Nightcrawler gave no quarter, relentlessly hitting Bastien with his teammates’ attacks by teleporting him!

A new breed of creature-features was unleashed in the 1990s and continued well into the next decade. Shaking off the ecological messaging of the past, these monsters existed for the sake of pure mayhem. Just to name a few: Tremors, The Relic, Anaconda, Godzilla, Deep Rising and Lake Placid all showcased this trend of irreverent creature chaos. Reptiles and other scaly beasts proved to be a popular source of inspiration for these films, but for that extra crawly experience, bugs were the best and quickest route. Spiders, in particular, led some of the worst infestations on screen in the early 2000s. And on the underbelly of this creeping new wave — specifically the direct-to-video sector — hangs an overlooked offering of spider horror: Arachnid.

Since "X-Men '97" is a revival of "X-Men: The Animated Series," the creators of the nostalgic continuation of the Marvel mutants' story made sure to bring back as many of the original voice actors as they could. ‘X-Men ’97’ premiered yesterday on Disney+ with its first two episodes, and initial reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. The show debuted with a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics hailing it as the “Best Marvel release in years.” Metacritic also awarded the show a high score of 82, signifying “Universal acclaim,” a rare achievement for recent Marvel Studios projects.
The series capitalizes on its biggest strength: being a direct continuation of ‘X-Men: The Animated Series.’ It strives to emulate the characters and animation of its predecessor while presenting a more mature and “raw” plot compared to typical Marvel fare.

Professor Charles Xavier died in the 1997 series finale of “X-Men: The Animated Series.” As Jean Grey observed at the time, “Fate lies in our hands now.”
As fate would have it, Disney+ has revived the iconic Saturday morning cartoon — and its classic animation style — as a new series for 2024. The 10-episode “X-Men ’97” premieres March 20 on the streamer, and on Thursday, February 15, Disney+ treated us to the trailer.

Classic 1970s television series Kung Fu is heading to the big screen, and Donnie Yen will star – more here.
A feature film based on the classic 1970s TV series Kung Fu has been in development for some time, and now it seems to be moving forward at Universal Pictures and 87North.
According to Deadline, John Wick director David Leitch will helm the film from a screenplay by Stephen Chin, with Ip Man star Donnie Yen set to play Kwai Chang Caine, a role first inhabited by David Carradine.
Martial arts icon Bruce Lee famously auditioned for the lead role in the original 1972 series, but lost out, of course, to Carradine. He played Caine, a spiritual monk who roams the Old West in the 1800s, wandering into confrontations and fist fights every week. The show proved popular, with phrases like ‘grasshopper’ making their way into the cultural lexicon.

In a year of reduced Marvel output, there are still a lot of interesting comic book adaptations emerging in 2024 from both Sony and Marvel Studios. As it stands, Deadpool 3 is the only MCU film releasing in theaters this year, but the Sony side of Marvel has three movies heading to multiplexes, including Kraven the Hunter, which was previously set to make its debut in 2023.
MCU series Echo has already hit Disney+ in January, but here’s what you can expect to arrive in the rest of 2024.
Madame Web – February 14
The webs will be madaming extremely hard in 2024 as Sony returns to the Spider-Man-adjacent well to pluck out the first of two new gems. Will they be sparkly, box office-friendly Venom diamonds? Or will they be cubic zirconia Morbiuses? Only time will tell, but the first trailer for February’s Madame Web was leaning heavily towards Morbius, inspiring reams of...

Mutants are gradually being worked into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and according to Cosmic Circus, the site that says the Midnight Sons might soon be appearing in the MCU, Marvel is looking at X-Men: The Animated Series, which ran on Fox Kids Network for five seasons from 1992 to 1997, as a major reference point as they figure out how to add the X-Men to their franchise. As Cosmic Circus noted, the influence of the animated series can be seen in the appearances of Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Dr. Hank McCoy in The Marvels – as well as (to some degree) Wolverine in next year’s Deadpool 3. Since Marvel has such respect for the animated series, it’s no surprise that they’re also reviving it with a continuation series titled X-Men ’97, which is expected to start streaming on Disney+ sometime soon. The wholesome family saga “Heartland” almost galloped onto the small screen without Jessica Amlee back in Oct. 14, 2007. The Canadian actress and her teenage character, Mallory Wells, were not initially part of the pilot. “They added me in because they needed a younger face,” Amlee tells Et Canada. Flash forward to January 2023, when Heartland will be celebrating its 245th episode. Amlee, for one, can’t help but marvel at the show’s longevity.
“I remember in the first season, I think it was the third episode, we had discovered how many people were watching ‘Heartland’ at the time,” Amlee recalls. “We were shocked it got picked up for a second season. We were living off that high of, ‘Wow, people are actually watching.’ At the time, 500,000 people were watching. It was this huge deal. Then, I started looking up how many people were watching ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and was like, ‘Ours isn’t that many people.

If you're like me, you've been watching Good Witch since it's first movie premiered in 2008.
You probably know the characters like the back of your hand.
That's why I'm thrilled to share that Good Witch Season 6 is a go at Hallmark! There is some less-than-stellar news to report, also, though. Someone won't be returning when the sixth season begins.
Catherine Bell has starred as Cassie Nightingale since the series began, but Cassie's life looked a whole lot different when she first got to Middleton.
She was a mysterious newcomer with a surprising family connection to the town, and she was also single and ready to mingle!
Throughout the Good Witch movie franchise, we got to know Cassie and followed her life as she met and married Jake Russell, father of two to Brandon and Lori.
Cassie was a wonderful mother, so we were even more excited when she got pregnant and gave birth to Grace.
