Joining Michael Shannon, Matthew Macfadyen, Nick Offerman and Betty Gilpin in the series about U.S. President James Garfield is Vondie Curtis Hall, Archie Fisher, Barry Shabaka Henley and Željko Ivanek. The latest additions to the series that has completed production in Budapest, Hungary also include Kyle Soller, Ben Miles, Shaun Parkes and Alistair Petrie.

The historical series from director Matt Ross will see Fisher play Joe Brown, Shabaka Henley as Senator Blanche Bruce (replacing Stephen Mckinley Henderson due to scheduling conflict), Walking Dead: Dead City actor Ivanek playing Dr. Doctor Bliss, and Soller as Robert Todd Lincoln. Production company Hangtime International Pictures has joined the team for the long-awaited second season of The Night Manager, as the show begins principal photography in London this month.

Following Hangtime’s launch at the Cannes Film Festival in May, the company’s Frank Murray and Frida Torresblanco will serve as co-executive producers on the show.

Murray was brought aboard the series by The Ink Factory co-founder and co-ceo Simon Cornwell and executive producer Stephen Garrett. “I’m thrilled to continue my working relationship with Simon and The Ink Factory team via Hangtime,” Murray said. “I am such a huge fan of the series, it is truly an honor and a privilege.”

“Devi Chowdhurani,” helmed by Subhrajit Mitra, has become the first Bengali-language film to secure official Indo-u.K. co-production status. The period drama, starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Srabanti Chatterjee alongside Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Arjun Chakraborty, Darshana Banik, Bibriti Chatterjee and Kinjal Nanda, is produced by Adited Motion Pictures (U.S./India) and Lok Arts Collective (India/U.K.), with the U.K.’s Hc Films and Moringa Studios serving as co-producers.

The project, now in early post-production, adapts Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay‘s 1884 novel about one of India’s first female freedom fighters. Composer Pandit Bickram Ghosh is on board for the score.

India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Nfdc, Ffo and Invest India, along with the U.K.’s BFI and Dcms, greenlit the co-production status.

Adited Motion Pictures’ Aparna and Aniruddha Dasgupta called the recognition “a dream come true,” while Lok Arts Collective’s Soumyajit Majumdar emphasized the importance of international co-productions for global exposure.

Jemima Kirke’s quirky headmistress Hope Haddon did her best to glue the cracked foundation of the school — left behind by Mr. Groff (Alistair Petrie) — but she couldn’t stop the demise of the doomed school with her attempts to smother any freedom of expression. Thus, all of the beloved students, most of whom were clients of Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) and Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) who ran a sex clinic together, had to transfer schools. We’ll let Season 4 speak for itself as to the fate of the Moordale students as well as other characters in the show.

Fluent in therapy-speak and determined to champion inclusivity, the teen characters from Netflix’s Sex Education might, in another series, be the butt of the joke. But the show’s charm has always been its refreshingly unironic celebration of Gen-z’s earnestness. In an unfortunate development, however, the fourth (and final) season tips into cynicism.

Following the closure of Moordale, the ’80s-inspired secondary school where the first three seasons of Sex Education were set, the new season takes place at the student-led Cavendish College, which is an even bigger haven of progressiveness, as evinced by its daily meditation sessions and “gossip free” policy. This is something of a shock for the former Moordale students, particularly Otis (Asa Butterfield), who discovers to his amazement that Cavendish already has its own student sex therapist, O (Thaddea Graham).

The fourth and, unfortunately, final season of Netflix’s Sex Education promises to be an emotional roller coaster ride, filled with love, laughter, and tears. The streaming service just debuted the final season’s trailer along with a (justified) warning to get your tissues ready.

Asa Butterfield and Gillian Anderson return to lead a cast that includes Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, and Mimi Keene. The two-and-a-half minute first look at the fourth season teases a busy farewell to the series, which helped catapult or bolster the careers of current and former stars, including Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Simone Ashley and Asa Butterfield. Set to the Meat Loaf classic “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That),” the trailer sees Butterfield’s Otis and Mackey’s Maeve grappling with the intricacies — including well-shot nudes — of a long distance relationship as she attends the prestigious U.S. school, Wallace University.

Saying goodbye to Sex Education will not be easy.
