Spoken Giants, the first royalties administrator for spoken-word content, is expanding its roster, announcing Wednesday that it’s signed the estates of Bob Hope and Desilu (Lucille Ball/Desi Arnaz) as well as Gabriel Iglesias, Larry the Cable Guy, Elayne Boosler, Jackie Fabulous, Eddie Pepitone, Nephew Tommy, Jeff Dye, and Todd Barry.
Previously announced members include the Don Rickles estate, the Ralphie May estate, Mike Birbiglia, Lewis Black, Dan Cummins, Gerry Dee, Pete Holmes, Kyle Kinane, Kathleen Madigan, Leanne Morgan, Theo Vona and hundreds of others representing thousands of individual comedy works.
Spoken Giant was created in 2019 by former BMI executive Jim King and the founders of comedy record label 800 Pound Gorilla, Ryan Bitzer and Damion Greiman, to address the fact that online stores, streaming services and other delivery platforms don’t compensate spoken word creators as the authors of their works as they do for musicians and songwriters. Sarah Cooper may seem like a viral sensation, but that’s hardly the case for those familiar with her comedy career. Since 2014, Cooper focused on hilarious subversions of corporate culture and empty tech speak in books like “100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings” and “How to Be Successful Without Hurting Men’s Feelings,” both based on her time working at a tech company. It happened to be her Trump lip sync videos, which people either love or absolutely do not understand, that brought her the attention of Netflix and celebrities. With Maya Rudolph producing and starring and Natasha Lyonne directing, “Everything’s Fine” is a star-studded event.
Most viewers will probably watch out of curiosity. What could a comedy special from a viral lip sync comedian look like? Well, it looks like a non-stop parade of celebrity cameos and leftover “Saturday Night Live” sketches that often feel too long. As...

“Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine” finally dropped on Netflix on Tuesday — and your favorite Trump lip-sync star did not disappoint with the celebrity cameos.
In the roughly 50-minute comedy special, directed by Natasha Lyonne with Maya Rudolph, Cooper primarily stars as herself, the host of a morning news show called “Everything’s Fine” where, you guessed it, everyone pretends everything is just fine despite the chaos that is 2020 and the Trump administration.
If you’re looking for more Trump lip-sync moments, Cooper delivers — and adds a couple more people to her repertoire. But she’s also joined by a lengthy guest star list that includes Fred Armisen, Megan Thee Stallion, Jane Lynch, Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Hamm, Aubrey Plaza, Connie Chung, Ben Stiller, Helen Mirren, Jonathan Van Ness, Winona Ryder, Marisa Tomei, Danielle Brooks, Tommy Davidson, Jordan Black, Marcella Arguello, Eddie Pepitone and Maya Rudolph.
Yup, that’s it.
So who’s who?...

Megan Thee Stallion and Helen Mirren are among the guest stars set for Sarah Cooper’s Netflix special entitled “Everything’s Fine.”
It is not yet known who the rapper and Oscar winner (respectively) will portray in the special streaming Oct. 27. But they are far from the only big-name special guests joining Cooper in sketches and interviews that comment on political and racial issues, as well as topics of gender and class. Other newly-announced guest stars for the special include Aubrey Plaza, Ben Stiller, Connie Chung, Danielle Brooks, Eddie Pepitone, Jane Lynch, Jonathan Van Ness, Jordan Black, Marcella Arguello, Maya Rudolph, Tommy Davidson, Whoopi Goldberg and Winona Ryder.
Comedian Cooper went viral a few months ago for her lip-synching videos on social media. The first was “How to Medical” in April 2020 and set Cooper down a path of portraying President Donald Trump as he talked about different aspects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Stan Against Evil delivers a real winner with a playful episode that sends up Kaiju cinema and ‘50s sci-fi in the weirdest way possible!
This Stan Agasint Evil review contains spoilers.
Stan Against Evil Season 3 Episode 3
“I bet every town has a gorilla and every gorilla has their own story…”
At the end of the day, both people and demons alike just want to feel important. No one is immune to this level of vulnerability, whether it’s Leonard, Kenny, or even the community of Willard’s Mill (apparently it’s quite difficult to shed the “famous for burning witches” reputation).
“Larva My Life” is an episode of Stan Against Evil that explores this need to feel needed with many of its characters, but it also combines that personal idea with campy science fiction and man-in-suit monster movies. The results make for the first real hit of the season.

Giant Moths, Demonic Puppets, and Hell on Earth are coming in Stan Against Evil Season 3.
Stan Against Evil star John C. McGinley described the upcoming third season, which premieres on Halloween night, as “subversive and fantastic.” In an age where there’s no shortage of ambition with niche comedies, IFC’s horror comedy is ready to take one giant leap forward. We saw it firsthand. While on set for a day of filming, we witnessed guest stars David Koechner and Eddie Pepitone smashing up a miniature Willard’s Mill while dressed as a Giant Mothman and Gorilla, respectively.
Those are just two of the ridiculously fun monsters that Stan (McGinley) and Evie Barrett (Janet Varney) will have to face as their lives in Willard’s Mill continue to be one endless nightmare after another. “There’s so much real horror, how about a little fake horror?” series creator Dana Gould says,...

With more unconventional demon hunting only a month away, here’s a look at the creepy imagery from Stan Against Evil.
It’s almost October again, which means that a new season of bloody, belligerent supernatural extermination is right around the corner for Stan Against Evil! IFC’s homage to classic horror and monsters features John C. McGinley as the reluctant savior of Willard’s Mill, Stan Miller, with Janet Varney playing his more competent better half, Sheriff Evie Barrett. These two have literally been to Hell and back to keep their town safe from demons, but Stan Against Evil’s third season looks like it could be the show’s best year yet.
The events of last year’s finale have irrevocably shaken up the show’s status quo. Stan’s pesky detour into the past to help save his dead wife has turned the fabric...

Starz has acquired a slew of comedy series, specials and films that launched on Seeso, the NBCUniversal-owned Svod service that shuttered last year.
Among the series in the deal are Take My Wife, Night Train with Wyatt Cenac and The Ucb Show. It also includes stand-up specials from the Sklar Brothers, Brian Posehn and Lachlan Patterson, along with The Pistol Shrimps, the documentary about a group of showbiz folks including Aubrey Plaza who play in a women’s recreational basketball league in L.A.
“We are excited to address the uncertain fate of several Seeso series, including the beloved Take My Wife series, by providing a new home for these programs and their fans at Starz,” said C. Brett Marottoli, Head of Program Acquisitions for Starz. “These comedies align strategically with many Starz Original series and will appeal to our audiences as we continue featuring more diverse casts and storylines across the Starz platforms.

The third season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriendhas taken a dark turn, successfully working through the pains of mental illness while mining both humorous and heartwrenching moments. It's a balancing act that's difficult to get right, but The CW musical dramedy has done it.
At the heart of it all is Paula Proctor (Donna Lynne Champlin), the Bff and motherly figure to the show's main protagonist, Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom). Though she's had prominent storylines before, tonight's episode, the seventh of the season, puts her front and center. In "Getting Over Jeff," Paula brings Rebecca along as she goes back home to Buffalo, New York, to visit with her dad, played by comedian Eddie Pepitone, and see if there's any spark left to her childhood crush, i.e. her Josh Chan, Jeff Channington. (Tellingly, this is also the first episode of the series to not feature Josh's name in the title.)

Project Name: 5 Doctors
Asking For: $15,000 on Kickstarter
Amount Raised Thus Far (At Time Of Post): $3,564
Days Remaining In Campaign (At Time Of Post): 26
Description: For a young person living in the big city, a return trip to a hometown is a chance to see friends and catch up on their lives. Or, if you're Spencer (Max Azulay), it's an opportunity to avoid all those people and go visit your favorite childhood doctors instead. That line describes the basic plot of 5 Doctors, which is looking to finish its post-production by raising some funds on Kickstarter.
As we can see in a trailer, the 5 Doctors referred to in the film's title represent one of Spencer's comforts; they are akin to five home-cooked meals. As he visits them, he will have a number of reflective experiences, aided by his friend Jay (Matt Porter), who chauffeurs him from one appointment to the next.

Marc Maron, a renowned podcaster and all around hilarious dude, returns to television to live out a standup comic's noblest dream: laying his life bare in a sitcom. Lucky for us, stand-up comedians are some of the most tormented, fascinating people on earth, and watching them battle through their days makes for good TV.Joining Maron in the second season of his life -- I mean his TV series -- are a host of excellent names and faces, including Bill Burr, Wyatt Cenac, David Cross, Joey “Coco” Diaz, Paul Feig, Chris Hardwick, Rachael Harris, Michael Ian Black, Moshe Kasher, Tom Kenny, Johnny Knoxville, Dave Koechner, Tig Notaro, Conan O’Brien,...

Half successful standup comic Eddie Pepitone expands the screen from stage to life as he lives his part 24 hours a day. Proclaimed the .Bitter Budda. by his friends and followers, standup comic Eddie Pepitone is like a Rodney Dangerfield who gets no respect. No, really, he really gets no respect. Growing up in an incubator until the age of nine years in the hallowed comic streets of Brooklyn, Eddie reports that asking his father to pass the salt at the dinner table was like negotiating with Hamas for peace in the Middle East. Fat, ill dressed, unbathed and sporting teeth so bad they look like they were engineered for failure, Pepitone is gleefully disgusting, gratefully marginalized and...

Eddie Pepitone is a comic’s comic, a deconstructionist stand-up comic with a scream like no other, who’s willing to put everyone, most often himself, under the microscope. Pepitone gets that treatment in the documentary film "The Bitter Buddha," directed by Steven Feinartz. It’s an engaging portrait of this man and an instant classic film about comedy that will be fascinating to comedy nerds and mainstream audiences alike. In our review, we said the film is 'a portrait of an interesting and endearing misanthrope,' and we got a chance to talk to the man himself on the day of his film’s premiere at the Cinema Village in New York City. How did you get in touch with "The Bitter Buddha" 's director, Steven Feinartz? He had seen me perform the rants on Marc Maron’s Wtf Live Shows, and Steven really liked what I did, and...

Chicago – We live in such a cynical world that when a film critic tells you a stand-up comedian is damn funny, it might not hold as much weight as it did in a universe before everyone had an opinion on everything online. Do you like Marc Maron, Sarah Silverman, Dana Gould, or the amazing Patton Oswalt? They think he’s hilarious. And if that doesn’t do it, the movie will. Just trust us.

Review: 'The Bitter Buddha' Captures The Brilliant Meta-Comedy & Existential Angst Of Eddie Pepitone
Eddie Pepitone is a comedian of dualisms. At 52, he's the next big thing. He's a meditating vegan with rage issues. He enjoys swearing at La drivers as much as he likes to feed squirrels in the park. This duality of character is what Steven Feinartz's documentary "The Bitter Buddha" (the title an oxymoron itself) attempts to convey about Pepitone, a man who is as delightful as he is loud, as incongruous as he is familiar, as buddha-like in nature and stature as he isn't. Pepitone is a stand up comedian in La, a comic's comic, as the slew of comedians interviewed attest to in our introduction to the man (testimony is given by Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, Jen Kirkman, B.J. Novak, Paul Provenza, Dana Gould, Scott Aukerman, Andy Kindler, Sarah Silverman, and more). And yet, he's still under the radar, still trying for that big break. His signature scream...

The ragey Eddie Pepitone has been in the comedy business for decades, but for many stand-up nerds he seemed to emerge out of the aether on Marc Maron's Wtf podcast in 2009. Steven Feinartz's frequently hilarious documentary The Bitter Buddha focuses on these past few years, as Pepitone's star has risen in spite of the fact that, as friend and fan Patton Oswalt recalls a CAA agent saying, Pepitone's "bookable years are over." The movie follows Pepitone as he goes on about his life of obsessively cleaning his house, dominating Twitter, killing at live gigs, feeding squirrels in the park (much to Oswalt's bemusement), and learning to enjoy his late-in-life career surge while making pe...

The Bitter Buddha is a documentary that tells the story of comedian Eddie Pepitone’s failure to have become a successful comedian by age 52.
Understandably, he’s bitter; it’s the nectar of his humor. The “Buddha” part is less obvious. If it was intended to mock his improved outlook after achieving sobriety, I’m not laughing. Maybe this is a clue why comedic success has eluded him.<
That’s not entirely fair for me to say. He is actually very funny, albeit inconsistently. He’s addicted to tweeting, here’s my favorite featured in the movie: ”Whenever someone yells ‘can I get a woot woot?’ I like to yell ‘only if you promise to read a book in your lifetime.”<
There are many talented artists who fail to achieve material success, and it is a very sad and all too common circumstance. One tries to control luck,...
