Jonathan Newman is a British born writer & director. Having spent his
formative years growing up in LA, he got the film bug at an early age,
making short films on video. He is a graduate of the Northern Film
School in Leeds.
His film Father's Day won Grand Prize for JWT as part of the launch of the Ford Mustang 2010.
In 2008 his film "Swinging with the Finkels" was a runner up for the FX/Filmaka competition.
Between 2006 and 2007 he was a BBC new filmmaker finalist for his film Foster, which also picked up a dozen awards on the festival circuit. It was subsequently turned into a feature film in 2011 starring Toni Collette and Ioan Gruffudd and his since gone on to receive critical acclaim winning the Grand Prize of the youth Jury at Rhode Island Film Festival
Jonathan is credited as an assistant author on The Guerilla Filmmakers' Movie Blueprint, the best-selling book on independent film.
