- She had never seen the first two Halloween movies before she took the role in Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982). She watched them to catch up, and realized that part 3 had nothing to do with the first two.
- She was originally cast as "Mary", the infamous "Sixth Replicant" in Blade Runner (1982), but on account of the movie's escalating budget, her role was cut just before shooting began.
- Her romantic relationship with Woody Allen when she was still a teenager inspired Allen's movie Manhattan (1979) -- Mariel Hemingway's role "Tracy" is based on Nelkin.
