Vertigo Releasing has acquired UK and Ireland rights to Anders Refn’s war drama Into The Darkness from Odin’s Eye Entertainment.

The distributor plans to release the film on digital platforms from March 5, as cinemas remain closed due to pandemic restrictions. The feature had previously been picked up by Kaleidoscope Film Distribution but rights have since reverted back to Odin’s Eye.

Christian E. Christiansen’s action-drama On The Edge (Lev stærkt), which had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam last month, has been sold to France (Films Distribution), Russia (P & I Films), Japan (Transformer, Inc) and Former Yugoslavia (Discovery film and video distribution).

The film centres on two best friends and street racers whose relationship is tested after one kills a young girl on the road.

Christian E Christiansen, whose Us debut The Roomate opened at the top of the box office in 2011, has returned to Denmark to shoot a sequel to Råzone (Life Hits).

Råzone marked Christiansen’s directorial debut in 2006 and was produced by Louise Vesth for Zentropa Productions.

The film about four teenage girls and their hard life with drinks, drugs and boys, took 109,000 admissions domestically.

The follow-up will shift the focus from girls to boys. Described as “a grim tale of rootless desperadoes, about friendship, loyalty, love and guilt”, Lev stærkt (On the Edge) is scripted by Christiansen and his Råzone partner Rasmus Dragsted.

It is currently shooting on a five-week schedule on location in Aarhus.
